NHS Preps for Annual Red Cross Blood Drive

Loy Norrix National Honor Society put on a performance to help motivate students to donate blood.

With third trimester in full swing, it is time again for the Annual blood drive. The National Honors Society is pairing up again with The American Red Cross.

“i am so excited, last year it was a good turn out, and I think this year will be even better,” said NHS president Haley Klesz.

Donating blood is important because there is no substitute for human blood; only blood can be given when blood is needed. At the blood drive assembly on Tuesday we learned that one unit can equal three lives.

If you’re donating remember to drink lots of water and eat food with high iron. Good foods might include red meat, fish, and beans. Avoid eating fatty foods and taking aspirin within 24 hours. For more information got to: http://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/tips-successful-donation

Come out and save three lives this Monday, April 27!
