During the month of October, students are either racing to find a good costume or waiting patiently for the 31st. Junior Kristian Padula, however, had a different approach last year. Only a week before Halloween, he realized that he looked very similar to Clark Kent when his hair is wet.
“I feel as if Superman was always someone to look up to,” said Padula.
Most students would choose a scarier costume to ward off spirits on Halloween night, but it was obvious what Padula’s costume would be. When it came time for trick or treating, he arrived at his friend’s house clad in glasses, a button-up, jeans, a hidden Superman shirt and, of course, Kent’s signature slicked-back hair.
Padula swiftly realized that Halloween was expected to be one of the coldest nights of the year and he wasn’t even wearing the proper clothes.
“I was really cold throughout the night, but I had some hand warmers on me, so I was fine,” Padula said.
Like Padula, many kids had their costume concept ready for them weeks before the big day, but junior Aiden Verbrigghe was sadly costumeless on the big day.
The day of Halloween, Berbrigghe decided to stop by Spirit Halloween to see if anything good was still available. There he found his costume: a large inflatable chicken. Eighty dollars later, he had his costume and was ready to trick or treat.
“It was hot and I often had to unzip it to feel comfortable,” said Verbrigghe.
Clark Kent was a little more subtle as a costume because less people understood who he was, but one could argue that’s the point of a Clark Kent costume. On the other hand, a giant inflatable chicken is always a hit and went down hard with the youth.

I love this article published by Knight Life news during the halloween season. Definitely would not have gotten as much love if it we published in, say, January
