The Cinderella Project of Kalamazoo 2025 Dress Giveaway Event will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Program and Training Center in Kalamazoo. Our event is open to any high school student in need of a dress for prom! Appointments are required for all participants, and appointment booking begins on March 1, 2025. Booking information can be found by scanning the QR codes located on posters in the hallway and the main office.   Haven't checked out GSA yet? We are a social club with an activism angle, open to all LGBTQIA+ students and allies who want to enjoy each other's company in a welcoming space. In honor of Women's History Month, Mrs Roman's Women's Studies class is putting together a door decorating contest. The contest will begin on March 17th and go till the judging date on April 25th. AAC opens today for tutoring from 230-330 in the following rooms; social studies in C19, Math in C12, science in D13, ESL support in K5W, and Study Hall in D12.   Book Club will meet Tuesday in the Library from 2:30-3:30.   Sword and Board will meet Thursday in room C16 from 2:30-3:30.   Green School Club will meet this Wednesday after school in room M14.    The Women's Soccer team opened up their season with a friendly on the road at Plainwell. Missing four players on their roster, the varsity team showed great character and scored more than their opponent. Fielding a team with five freshmen on the roster, combined with 15 returning players, the season looks bright. The Junior Varsity team showed well but was on the short end of scoring by a goal. With half of the team being first year players, the team looks to improve as the season progresses. Those four movies were all filmed at Plaza de Espana in Spain. What does that have to do with Loy Norrix? The travel club will be visiting Plaza de Espana where Anakin Skywalker and Queen Padme's love story began! Travel Club will be traveling to France and Spain during the summer of 2026. Students can receive 3 college credits. An informational meeting will be held March 18th 6:30 pm in room D-11. Early registration has been moved back to March 20th. Save $350 by signing up by March 20th. Save an additional $400 since this is Ms. Ward's first solo lead trip.    The Knights Health Center staff would like you to know that we will be closing the health center every day for 30 minutes, sometime between 12 o’clock and 1 o’clock, so that the health center staff can eat lunch. If you come to the health center during this time, the door will be locked, however if you believe that you have an emergency, please go to the school office and the office staff can call our office. If your concern is not an emergency, then you may return to the health center after we reopen. There will be a sign on the window that says when we will reopen after our lunch.

Departure is at 9:00 am sharp—don’t be late! This leadership conference is all about college and career exposure, so you don’t want to miss it! You’ll be back at school by 1:00pm. Please contact Coach Forrester at [email protected]   The outdoor track season  started this week but we are still taking anyone wanting to run, throw, or jump their way onto a great, supportive team. Whether you are a first timer or someone who has been on the team before, come out and give this season a chance. If you get cut from soccer, baseball, or softball, we would love to have you. We will make you faster, stronger, and better for you to make that cut next time. Try some sprints, pole vault, or even the 400. There are so many opportunities for you to find events that you will enjoy and fit your abilities. See you after school in the lobby by the gym.   Attention Students! Please contact Coach Forrester at [email protected].   Poetry Club  will meet today, Tuesday March 11th, in C-13, Mr. Eiler's room, from 2:30 to 3:30.   Over the weekend we had 3 athletes compete in the  indoor track state meet.  Highlights were Teagan Borick running an all-time best split in the 800 with a time of 2:27, Elliott Anderson running his best time in the 60 hurdles at 9.02, and Jackson Lam running his indoor best 1600 with a time good enough for all-state honors in 4:22.2. Congratulations to all these hard-working runners.   You missed it? I can't believe you missed it. There will be no AAC today since it is final exams week.   Students, are you going to be playing a spring sport?  If you haven’t had a sports physical this year, stop by the Knights Health Center to schedule a FREE sports physical.  You will need a sports physical form filled out and signed by your parent or guardian, and you will also need to have your parent or guardian fill out a Knights Health Center consent form if they have not already done so.  You can pick up the sports physical form and health center consent form at the Knights Health Center.     During Exams, please don't give passes to students to come to the Zen room, due to them needing the time to test and to not distract others.    The Cinderella Project of Kalamazoo 2025 Dress Giveaway Event will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Program and Training Center in Kalamazoo. In addition to that, anyone who signs up by March 6 will receive $350 off the cost of the trip! That is $750 total off the cost of the trip if you sign up by March 6!! Students who apply for the Flag Scholarship through WorldStrides can receive up to $600 off in addition to the previously mentioned $750!!! Stop by D-11 if you have any questions, or contact Ms. Ward at [email protected]!   There will be no Yarn club this week due to exams.   The Theater Tech Club meets every Thursday after school. Due to exam half days, The theater tech club will meet at 11:30 to 1:00 this week. They will return to their normal time of 2:30 to 4:00 next week. Softball Tryouts will be March 10th, 12th and 13th from 5-7pm in the gym.   The Ski Team placed 3rd for boys and 4th for girls in the final standings for the Southwest Michigan Ski Conference. Both the girls and boys teams finished 1st team Academic All-State with the boys finishing 6th in the State with a GPA of 3.65 and the girls 9th in the State with a GPA of 3.725! Junior Sam Oberlee finished 3rd overall in Conference, making the All-Conference Team, All-Regional Team and 2nd team All-State in GS placing 14th in the State!!! Senior Lizzie Bierlein just missed out on All-Conference honors by placing 16th. She did however finish 10th in slalom in the Conference. Sophomore Luke Butendorp finished 9th overall in Conference earning All-Conference honors. Senior Nolan Kiplinger just missed out on All-Conference honors placing 17th overall. Junior Mary Ewing had a best individual Conference finish by placing 20th overall. Sophomores Grady Heystek and Michael Austin along with freshman Zoe Newman were all big contributors to the success of Kalamazoo United in 2025! The Black Student Union wants to congratulate Ms. DeVeries and her class on winning the Door/Classroom decorating contest for Black History Month.   Tryouts for Men’s volleyball will be on Monday and Wednesday in the gym from 7-9:30. This year we will be performing the hit production MiddleTown, a comedic yet touching modern take on the American classic, Our Town. Interested in performing on stage? Then come to Crew Club. The Crew Club meets every Thursday in the Auditorium from 2:30-4:00. All are welcome. Join the travel club on their trip to France, the Mediterranean, and Spain July 2026! Sign up by March 6, and receive $350 off the cost of the trip! All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join.   This is the last week of indoor track training. Distance runners will be outside all week and sprinters will meet on Tuesday and Thursday. Next week is exam week with no coach-led practices. Monday, March 10th starts mandatory practices for outdoor track. Spring Sports start March 10th you must pass four out of five classes to be eligible to participate, have an athletic physical on file with planeths.com and pay your $50 insurance fee before you try out. If you have already participated in a sport this year you are all set.   The last indoor track meet of the season was held over the weekend at GVSU. The women's teams consisting of Macy, Layla, Sofia, Jenna, and Lily ran in the Distance Medley Relay and 4x400m relays with great times but just short of the state meet qualifications. Sofia individually ran the 800m run with a personal best and just off the state cut by 2 seconds. Jackson ran the 3200 beating many in the so-called-elite field to a personal best that solidified his place in the indoor state meet. Please congratulate these runners. Jackson, Elliott, and Teagan all qualified over the winter to compete in the state meet at CMU in a week and a half.   The winner of the Class of 2027 t-shirt or hoodie raffle is NiaAsia C. NiaAsia, you won a hoodie. Please contact Ms. McMillon in K13 for more information. Congratulations to Ms. Pankop's Advanced Journalism class for winning this year's food drive! They brought in half of the school's total and earned a food day courtesy of Mr. Aguinaga! Thank you to all the classes that brought in food. And thank you to all of the National Honor Society students that participated in this event. Together we brought in 1,800 pounds of food for the Kalamazoo community, the highest total in the past three years. We look forward to building on this next year.   AAC will be open today for tutoring from 2:30-3:30 in the following rooms; social studies in k13, science in c10, ESL support in k5w, Spanish in a18, courseware in k10, and study hall in a19. The testing room will also be available in the a-wing offices. Please have your teacher contact Mrs Hensen regarding make-up testing.   The Poetry Club will meet today, Tuesday, February 25th, in C-13, Mr. Eiler's room, from 2:30 to 3:30.   Current 9th-grade students will be able to attend a college visit to Western Michigan University on Thursday, March 27th called Bronco Buds. Permission slips will be given to you from your 1st-hour freshman classes. If you do not have a 1st hour of freshman class, please ask your next hour class for a permission slip. The Cinderella Project of Kalamazoo 2025 Dress Giveaway Event will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Program and Training Center in Kalamazoo. Our event is open to any high school student in need of a dress for prom! Appointments are required for all participants, and appointment booking begins on March 1, 2025. Booking information can be found by scanning the QR codes located on posters in the hallway and the main office.   Haven't checked out GSA yet? We are a social club with an activism angle, open to all LGBTQIA+ students and allies who want to enjoy each other's company in a welcoming space.
