AAC will be open for tutoring today to help you prepare for final exams from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the following rooms: English in D10, Math in B13, Science in C17, Social Studies in K2, Spanish in A18, Chinese in K1 and Study Hall in D12. The Sword and Board Club will meet today from 230-330 in room C16. All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join. Congratulations to the varsity golf team for finishing 3rd in the White Pigeon Invitational! Great job to Xander Gorham for finishing 1st overall in the match with a 7 over par 79! Congratulations also to Aaron Teal, for finishing 3rd overall with a 13 over par 85 on a very tough venue at Klinger Lake Country Club. The varsity golf team is in action again on Wednesday, May 29 at Lincoln Golf Course in North Muskegon for Regional action.  Time is running out to get your yearbook! We have only 50 Accolade yearbooks left for sale and they can no longer be purchased online. Bring $70 cash or check to room K3 during passing time or before or after school, or see our table in the cafeteria to buy your yearbook today before it's too late. The application is now open for the 2025 Accolade Yearbook staff. If you requested Yearbook on your course request, you have an email from Ms. English with the application. Attention AP Art students for the 2024-25 school year, please stop by room A12 to pick up your summer assignment. This is a requirement to be in the class, so please see Mr. Stevens to pick up the assignment and have any of your questions answered. Are you undecided about traveling to Ireland and Scotland? Come to the informational meeting today at 6:30 p.m. in room D11. This will be the last informational meeting before school is out for the summer. All track athletes, please return all school issued materials as soon as possible. That means we need the uniforms and batons back. Please return all uniforms and other materials to Coach Schmidt in K16, Coach Duckett in the gym, or the athletic office. Congratulations to the Loy Norrix Varsity Golf Team! The team placed 4th overall in a tournament at Parma Western in Jackson on Friday. The team missed third place by 2 strokes. Isaac Scavarda took 1st place overall with a sizzling 2 under par 70! Xander Gorham also brought home a medal with a score of 78, which was good for 9th place overall. Aaron Teal finished strong with an 81 and was 13th overall! Kellen Johnson finished out the team with an individual best round of 94 for the year! Our Smash team lost in round 3 in a close fight with Charlotte, and then another close loss in the battle back bracket to Mona Shores ended our day. The 2023 Accolade Yearbook Staff won 38 Individual Awards at the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association Spring Awards Ceremony! This includes four first place awards, six second place awards, and four third place awards, as well as many Honorable Mentions. Our women's soccer team has a home conference game tonight against Portage Central High school. JV starts at 5:00 p.m. and varsity starts at 6:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy the nice weather and support our Knights as they look to continue their awesome season. The library will be closed during the first three class periods today due to AP practice testing. Our baseball team split with the visitors from Gull Lake last night. Losing the first game, the Knights were able to bounce back, taking the second game 6-1. Norrix was led to victory by junior Jackson Bennett who started and pitched six innings, allowing just one run and striking out six batters. Our team was led at the plate by junior Sayani Jones and senior Lucas Frankart, who both hit towering home runs to surge the Knights to victory. The boys will be back in action tomorrow at home against Portage Central. The 2024 Loy Norrix Accolade Yearbook will be ready for distribution next month! If you want to remember when everything happened this past year, make sure you buy a yearbook before it’s too late. We are now officially under 200 books left, so don't delay. You can pay by bringing $70, cash or check, to room K3, or online at www.yearbookordercenter.com with order number 12613. Have you ever wanted to visit a castle? Travel Club will be visiting four different castles as they travel to Ireland and Scotland in the summer of 2025. This educational trip will be 12 days long. Scholarships and financial aid are available. Students can earn 3 college credits, and teachers can earn 3 CEUs. Informational packets can be found by the main office, near the bathrooms by the cafeteria and outside room D11. Contact Ms. Ward in D11 or Mrs. Learner in the guidance office for more information. Teachers, if you would like Ms. Ward to come to your 2nd hour class and give a brief talk about the Ireland/Scotland trip, please send her an email. AAC will be open for tutoring from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in limited rooms today due to conferences: Chinese in K1 and Study Hall in D12. Please return any overdue books to the library to avoid fines. Books more than 30 days overdue will be marked as lost and fines will be added to your account. See Ms. Coash in the library with questions. The Sword and Board club will meet today from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in room C16. We are looking for more people for Magic the Gathering and Pokemon TCG to play the remainder of the trimester. If you play either of these, please consider stopping by! All other gamers and games are still invited to join. If you are interested in applying for AP Art during the upcoming school year, please see Mr. Stevens in room A12 to set up a meeting to review your artwork. A portfolio review is required to apply. Who’s ready to play Ultimate Frisbee this spring? Ultimate is a fun, fast-paced team sport that has elements of soccer, football, and basketball combined. Kalamazoo United Youth Ultimate invites everyone to join our high school team this spring. We are a mixed team, open for all Kalamazoo Public Schools high schoolers of all genders. If you would like to learn more about the programs we invite you to come to the information session in Mr. Hernandez’s room, A16, today  after school.  The Kalamazoo Promise Signing Day event is approaching. All seniors are invited to attend the event downtown at the Arcadia Festival Site on May 10. There will be live music, karaoke, a lip sync battle, raffles, food trucks, carnival games and more. Please make sure if you are Promise eligible, your Promise Application and Scholarship Acceptance Form are submitted before the day of the event. Please reach out to Coach Moore for more information.
