Last Monday, the track teams competed at Lakeview High School where the boys fell 116-46 and the girls fell 95.68. There were some good performances though. In the throws, Ethan Hall, Carter Gonzalez, Conner Harrington, Gigi Fox, and Alex King all had personal bests. Ella Hawthorne won the pole vault. Jaelynn Smith ran personal bests in both hurdle races while Trevor Watts won the 110 hurdles. Naomi Pulliam and Keven Lucas won the 100m dashes. The women’s team also took 3 of the top four places in the 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 with highlights from Ella Adalbert, Reesha Link, Sofia Bogard, Macy Daniels, and Reaghan Babrick along with Kendall Sloan, Annaliese Bol and Amelia Isackson.
The JT Long invitational was Friday. Out of the 12 teams that attended and scored, your women’s team took 4th and the men’s team took 3rd overall. Scoring and having a season or personal best were Duncan, Hank, Ella, and Annaliese in the 400, Amelia and Macy in the 800, Reese and Sofia in the 1600, Anna, Sofia, and Macy in the 3200, and Kayo Higgins in the 110 hurdles. In the field events Lilly had a season best and scored in pole vault getting over 8’6″ for the first time, James got over 6′ in high jump for the first time, and Anthony got over 50′ in shot put for the first time, all placing 2nd. The punctuating races of the night were the last races with the men’s and women’s team battling down the stretch and needing to come back in the last few meters to take 2nd for the boys and 1st for the girls.
They compete next in the JV meet at Gull Lake on Tuesday then the Conference Meet on Saturday.
