Attention Teachers: Announcements are a vital way for students to receive important school information. Please ensure that when announcements are read, students are quiet and attentive.
Attention Students: We understand that friends enjoy playing around at times in the hallway or during lunch. However, play-FIGHTING can be dangerous, not only to the person you are playing with, but also to those around you. If you are caught play-fighting, you may be suspended from 1-3 days. Additionally, running around the cafeteria or hallways is dangerous to others and is inappropriate during school. If you want to run in the hallway, see Coach S. after school.
Saturday School will be in session this Saturday, February 22, from 9:00 to 12:00 in room K16. If you have not served detentions or you have multiple instances of hoodie reminders, your Behavior Interventionist will be in contact with you on Thursday or Friday of each week. We look forward to working with some of you on Saturday.
We all have the responsibility to be respectful to the school environment that we spend most of our days in. Students are expected to pick up after themselves in the cafeteria, which includes keeping items of food at your own table, throwing away all trash items, and cleaning up any spills. Please help us keep our school looking good. We have a lot of opportunities to clean up the cafeteria in the morning and after lunches and will be happy to schedule students to assist with this process, if they are found unable to adhere to the expectations. It would also be awesome to show our respect to the staff who spend their lunches with us. Please and thank you’s go a long way.
On Saturday February 22nd please join the fun as our Knights take on the Central Maroon Giants for three games of Basketball. During both the women’s’ and men’s’ varsity basketball games all junior and senior students are invited to enter to win a $1,000 scholarship to be used at any of the 14 top independent colleges and universities. That’s right, Michigan Colleges Alliance (MCA) will award three $1,000 scholarships to three Kalamazoo Central students and three $1,000 scholarships to three Loy Norrix students. Winners will be announced at the end of the 3rd quarter of the men’s game. Stop by the Michigan Colleges Alliance booth on Saturday to enter the drawing! Or if you are unable to attend the game visit the counseling office during passing time to complete an entry form. You do not have to be present to win.
Any student who is going to compete in the ACT-SO competitions, needs to report to Ms. Van Lieu about their project. The deadline is approaching for presentations of any of the categories. Please report to A12 at any lunch.
Attention 9 or 10 grade students: You should have received a letter at home about an upcoming presentation by the Kalamazoo County Health Department. If you have an “opt out” form from your parent or guardian you need to bring it to the Main office and put it in the box.
