Winterfest voting begins today (Thursday) at 10am and will conclude tomorrow (Friday) at noon. Go onto norrix.voting4schools.com and place your vote. You can also find QR codes around the school that will take you to the site. If your having trouble voting Go see Coach Rickli in the athletic office.

There will be a Book Quiz Bowl meeting in Mrs. Sharpe’s room, A10, today after school. We will also meet on Sunday, January 26 at 2:00 pm in Mr. Shack’s room.

ACT-SO Scholarship Program for African American Students is now seeking talented individuals to participate in the annual program. There are 27 categories. ACT-SO is the youth division of the NAACP. You have the opportunity to be mentored in your chosen discipline. Gold Medal winners qualify to go to the national convention. See Ms. Van Lieu A12 for information on how to register.

Hey Hockey Fans – Your Kalamazoo United Hockey Team beat Portage Northern last night 5-4. Thanks to all that cheered the team onto win!

We want to appreciate all our Interact club members who volunteered at the Gospel Mission yesterday. Thank you all for your leadership and service to humanity.

There will be a green school meeting Thursday after school in room B14. If you are interested in taking action against climate change, stop by and let your voice be heard. The last 5 years have been the hottest five years on record. Together we can bring about change. All are welcome, see you there!

Dance tickets are on sale at all 3 lunches in the cafeteria. $5 all week but $10 at the door. The dance will start after the game and will end to 11 pm.

Softball conditioning will meet in the weight room on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school to get in shape for the spring season. Participation is optional but encouraged. Softball open gym is every Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 pm starting. See Coach Johnson in C12 if you have any questions

The Loy Norrix Conservatives will be meeting today Thursday after school in D18. Everybody is welcome

Have you wanted to get back in shape? Do you need to get or stay in condition for a spring sport? Have you wondered about track but didn’t want to commit to the whole season and team? Meet at the four-corners area after school from 2:40 to 4:10. We are a group of athletes and coaches interested in training to get faster, stronger, and more agile. Try it out any day of the week and enjoy good socialization and hard work. Don’t wait. Join us and improve.

Young men! Do you want to develop your leadership skills and refine your self-image, social skills and environmental awareness? Join other young men from Kalamazoo Central and Phoenix High School by joining Kappa League. For more information and an application see Ms. Middleton in the counseling office.

Attention all Sophomores and Juniors. The Third 90 Network Program is now taking applications for the Spring Team. We are looking for 20 students who are motivated, have a positive attitude, make good grades, work well in a team setting, responsible, and not afraid to try new things. The Third 90 program will give you an opportunity to participate in meaningful projects in environmental sustainability. The team works with college faculty and college students. There will be 2 visits to the Kalamazoo Nature Center, 2-3 college campus visits and 2 after school workshops. If you are interested, pick up an application in M14, Mrs. Young’s room, or K10, Ms. Nelson’s room. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, January 31.

Freshman and Senior Tee shirts are on sale until January 30. Pick up an order form around school or in A12.

Attention 1st Trimester Mr. Leander’s Auto Tech students: Would you like a chance to go to Detroit to see a very cool auto show? The Autorama Show will be in Detroit February 28th. Please contact Mr. Leander for details.
