  • Western Michigan University on Oct. 17
  • Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Oct. 26

Please see your Kalamazoo Promise coach Mr. Moore in the library to sign up to attend and get more information.

Homecoming dance tickets are available at lunch or in Ms. Corstange’s room for $10 each. The dance is Oct. 6, from after the football game until 11:00.

AAC will be open today for tutoring in the following rooms: social studies in K13, math in K4, English in K1, science in C17, ESL support in K5W, Spanish in K12, and SAT math prep in B13. Study hall will not be open today.

The Sword and Board club will meet today in room C16 from 2:30 to 3:30. All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join.

If you are interested in playing men’s volleyball, come check out the open gym in the main gym this Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00. Be sure to contact Coach Mac if you have any questions.

If you are a senior, stop by the Counseling Office as soon as possible to sign up for a meeting with your counselor. Senior meetings are mandatory for all students in the 12th grade. Sign up sheets will be in the hallway, and passes will be emailed before your meeting.

Attention all environmentalists: Green School will meet today in Room B14 after school. All are welcome.

Last night, the cross country teams competed at Linden Grove in the last jamboree meet of the season. The women’s team finished 3rd in both jamborees to take 3rd in the division. Almost the entire team fished better than projected and closed the gap on 2nd place Gull Lake but ultimately missed them by one point. The men’s team finished first after getting first in the home jamboree as well. This makes them division champs for the first time in over 15 years. They will race again on Saturday at noon during the Portage Invite held at Portage West Middle School.

Today is the Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament. The brackets will be played out during lunches today. The final eight will play for the championship tomorrow during the Pep Assembly. If you signed up for the tournament, please come to the tournament table in the cafeteria today.

As you celebrate your school, did you know that:

  • The Men’s Cross Country Team are SMAC East Division Champions?
  • The Women’s Swimming and Diving Team won the Loy Norrix Invitational, then followed that up with their 39th straight win as they defeated Portage Central on Tuesday and Abby Miliken broke a school record?
  • The Volleyball teams swept past Battle Creek Central last night and will host Stevensville Lakeshore during Senior Night next week?
  • The Men’s Soccer team is playing in the SMAC Gold Tournament this week and nearly won against Gull Lake Tuesday, the #1 ranked team, 3-2, and that they will play for 3rd place in the best soccer league in the state tonight at Battle Creek Lakeview?
  • The JV Football team is still undefeated?

And there’s so much more that you can be proud of our Loy Norrix athletes for.

Today is BBQ Dad vs. Soccer Mom day.

Friday is Spirit Day. Wear your class colors – red for freshman, yellow for sophomores, green for juniors and blue for seniors. If you cannot wear your class colors that day, blue and white is always welcome as well.
