Loy Norrix Key Club has now begun their annual membership drive. If you are interested in joining Key Club, please pick up the membership profile outside of Ms. Nelson’s room, D13. Key Club is an international club in over 35 countries around the world. Its mission is to serve, build character and develop leadership. Being an active member looks great on resumes and college applications. Please see Ms. Nelson or a current Key Club member if you have any questions.

The Western Michigan University School of Medicine is now accepting applications for their 2023-2024 Early Introduction to Health Careers Program. This is a mini-medical school for high school students interested in exploring health careers. The program is offered to 10th, 11th and 12th graders. The flyer with the link to the application is posted in the Counseling Office, and each teacher has received the link in an email. Applications must be received by Sept. 30.

The Travel Club has announced that our 2024 destination will be Scandinavia: Sweden, Denmark and Norway. In our 25th year of international travel, we would like to invite students and interested adults to join us in this great adventure. The itinerary and information can be found at www.educationaltravel.com. The trip ID is Kalamazoo-2024. There will be a group info meeting in October; contact tour leader Rebecca Learner at the LN Counseling Office via email for more information. We depart on July 1, 2024. Students are eligible for scholarships and can earn three free college credits.

Congratulations to Georgie Edmonds, Grayson Borick and Vivienne Chapman for winning the random draw from student athletes that have completed volunteer work. Please go to the athletic office and collect your prize.

Female flag football practice day is today from 5:30 to 7:00 on the practice field for Junior and Senior females who wish to play. If you are playing football, you must be cleared by your coach to participate. You will need to leave campus after school and return for the 5:30 practice. If you stay and hang out after school to wait for practice, you will no longer be allowed to play, so please exit the building at 2:20. There will also be a practice from 4:00 to 5:00 on Monday and the game will follow at 5:15. Coach Kyle will be the supervisor for the Juniors, and Mr. Atiba Ward will supervise the Seniors.

We had some ties in homecoming nominations so some of you have runoff ballots in your inbox. Please vote before noon today and we will announce the Court at the end of the day.

You can still use the link in your inbox to register for the Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament. This is for both students and staff. Multiple staff members have been called out and challenged in the last couple of days, including Allen, Neel, McMillon, Robinson, Young, Perry, Muysenberg and Hill, among others. Please sign up by the end of the day if you are interested.

Homecoming dance tickets are available at lunch or in Ms. Corstange’s room for $10 each. The dance is October 6 after the football game until 11.

There are only three days left to get your 2024 Accolade Yearbook at the lowest price. The price increases on October 1, so don’t delay. Go to www.yearbookordercenter.com with order number 12613 or bring $60, cash or check, to K3 before school, after school, or during lunch.
