Chess Club is Wednesday during all three lunches in Room D10. Please get a purple pass from your teacher, pick up your lunch, and come to play a real person or use the computers for Chess.com. Anybody may attend, and anyone who beats Mr. Bellware wins a custom-made chess board.

Sword and Board will meet Thursday from 230-330 in room C16. All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join. Ms Pike will be hosting our first Pokemon TCG day this Thursday. Stop in to learn the basics and play.

Any students interested in archery, please consider joining out club’s Google classroom using code “xx22efb”. Updates and scheduling are posted there for upcoming sessions.

Do you speak multiple languages? Are you a junior or a senior? If so, you might qualify for an award that looks great on your transcript and gives you something else to brag about at graduation. The award is called The Seal of Biliteracy and it recognizes students who are proficient in English and one or more languages by high school graduation. Ask any language teacher for more information if you are interested in this opportunity. The deadline to apply is Monday September 30th.

Would you like to improve your communication skills? Would you like to be more confident when you speak? Irish lore says that if one kisses the Blarney Stone, he or she becomes a better, more confident speaker! Where is this Blarney Stone? It is in Ireland! Join the travel club on an amazing trip to Ireland and Scotland during the summer of 2025 where you, too, can kiss the Blarney Stone and earn 3 college credits! The Loy Norrix MUSICAL is just around the corner! This year we will perform Urinetown, a hilarious modern musical about people standing up for what’s right! We need actors, singers, and dancers of ALL kinds! Get a leg up on auditions by attending our FREE workshop on Wednesday September 25. Learn an audition song and a dance routine that you can use for the Auditions on October 1. The workshop will be from 2:30 to 5:30 in room J12. Everyone is welcome! It’s Senior Meeting time! This is a REQUIREMENT for ALL seniors!

Stop by the Counseling Office to sign up for a meeting with your counselor. Sign up sheets will be in the hallway, and passes will be emailed before your meeting.

Students: The Family Health Center Dental Mobile Unit will be visiting Loy Norrix this Fall. If you are interested in seeing a dental hygienist see the Communities In Schools Staff in B-Wing for more information.

Attention everyone! Curious about the big questions in life? Join us after school for Philosophy Club Today, Tuesday, September 24 in Mrs. Weaver’s room, K-17! No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and a willingness to have engaging discussions. Come check it out and see what philosophy is all about!

D.E.C.A, D.E.C.A, D.E.C.A, You may have heard this from MR. Ward this is the most exciting club Loy Norrix has to offer. You learn about Business, Participate in activities and challenges, hold leadership roles, participate in competition, and develop your skills in 38 areas of business. If you have ever taken or you are currently enrolled in any business class this year, You must explore Deca  NATIONAL Renowned organization.  We have a meeting this Friday 2:30-3:15 , Where  in K5C Mr. Ward.

 

Calling all LGBTQ+ students and allies! Interested in learning more about the Queer community, showing pride in your identity, or creating an inclusive environment in the school? Join the GSA, meeting Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 in Mr. Ezekiel’s room M12E. For more information talk to either Mr. Ezekiel or Ms. Pike (B20). Hope to see you there!

 

AAC will be open today for tutoring from 230-330 in the following rooms; Social Studies in A19, Math in B23, Science in C10, ESL Support in K5W, Spanish in K12, and Study Hall in D12.

 

Are you interested in a career in the health or medical profession? The WMed Medical School, here in Kalamazoo, has a free internship for KPS students in 10th, 11th, or 12th grades. It meets one Saturday morning a month from October to May. This is a great opportunity to learn more about health care jobs, have a mentor, and make connections for your future. To apply, look for the flyers around school or talk to Mrs. Johnson in D18. Application is due October 4.
