Congratulations to Seniors Ana Dunfee, Wendy Miedema, and James Rocco who were all announced as finalists in the MHSAA Scholar Athlete Competition. They have tripled the number of finalists we have had at Loy Norrix over the last 20 years. With over 1,500 applicants we will see if they win one of the thirty two $2500 scholarships on January 27.

AAC will be open today from 230-330 in the following rooms; English in B21, math in B13, Spanish in K11, and study hall in the library

KU Hockey takes on the Kalamazoo Eagles at 5:15 today at Wings West Ice Arena. $7 single game admission. Come on out and show your school spirit everyone.

Attention anyone interested in men’s volleyball, there will be open gym tonight in the gym from 7:30-9:30 come on out! Contact Coach Mac if you have any questions.

Green school Will meet this week on Thursday in Room B14 after school. All are welcome, hope to see you there!

The Women Empowerment Club is hosting a meeting tomorrow, Thursday, January 19th at 2:20 in room b-21! This meeting will be very important as they are showcasing their “Big Sister, Little Sister “program with Maple Street Middle School coming up this February! Please join them and spread the word! They need as many people as possible! Snacks will be provided!

Sword and Board will meet Thursday this week in room C16 from 230-330. All tabletop gamers and games are welcome to join!

Loy Norrix Baseball will be in the weight room after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30-3:45

Women’s lacrosse conditioning will be at Milwood Middle School every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7-9pm. Bring running shoes, sticks, goggles, mouth guards, and water bottles. Come check it out and learn a new sport! For more information email senior Sophie Grover.

It’s time for CTE/EFA/EMC applications! If you’re interested in applying for a program, please contact your counselor or look in the counseling google classroom for instructions.

Attention Seniors! The Kalamazoo Community Foundation scholarship is now open! You can fill out one application and be eligible for over 65 scholarships. More information can be found in the counseling google classroom, or by emailing your counselor.

Attention Juniors and Seniors! Are you bilingual and haven’t applied for the Michigan Seal of Biliteracy award? Please email your counselor, Señora Holmes or Ms. Gomez-Avalos for more information. Application deadline is January 19th.

Are you looking to get in shape? Do you want to see if a track or field event is for you this spring? Don’t wait until March to take action. Meet in the 4 corners area every school day that teachers don’t have meetings after school. We will meet 2:45-4:00 to run, workout, and work on speed, strength, and conditioning. Hey seniors! This year’s senior video is going to be amazing, but I bet it would be even better if every single senior was in it. Please submit your senior photos and clips to the google drive folder sent out to you through email.

Attention AV Club members and those helping produce the senior video: We will be meeting in room K-6 on Monday, January 23d and all 4 Wednesdays in February from 2:30 -3:30.

Attention All Travelers to Spain and Portugal: There will be a mandatory meeting to discuss important information about our upcoming trip to sunny Spain and exotic Portugal on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in C-15, Mrs. Lewis’s room at 7:00 P.M. Please park in the back lot and come to the door by Mrs. Lewis’s room. You must have your LNHS ID to present at the outside door to gain entrance. This meeting is for those signed up to travel as well as parents/guardians. An email to all travelers signed up with WorldStrides, our travel partner, will be sent as a reminder of this mandatory meeting.

Calling all Rocket League players! The Kalamazoo Department of Parks and Recreation are starting up a Thursday night Rocket League duos league. Information is available on the Loy Norrix Esports Discord server, or stop by and see Mr. Wood in C-19 for a letter. Hurry, there is only space for 16 teams in this league. All games will be played at WMU’s Esports Arena.
