Attention students: On Friday, October 8th there will be a Hispanic Heritage celebration in the cafeteria afterschool. Candy will be sold during all 3 lunches to help fund this event. Students will get a ticket to the celebration when you purchase candy. Hope to see you there.

GSA meets in the Library on Thursdays, 2:30 – 3:30! This week, we will be discussing identities, including vocabulary terms & definitions. Everyone is welcome, and we center the voices & experiences of LGBTQ+ students.
If you are interested in playing baseball here at Norrix we have started weight training and conditioning on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5-7 in the weight room. Show up ready to work if you’re interested. If you have questions you can stop by the athletic office and talk to Coach Rickli.
It’s the great pumpkin painting party, Loy Norrix! Tuesday, October 19th from 2:30-3:30, Loy Norrix will have its 31st annual Pumpkin Painting Party. Come to the cafeteria and paint a pumpkin! All pumpkins will be delivered to community agencies. Students and staff are all welcome to attend!

The Travel Club is enrolling students and adults for travel in Summer 2022. If you are interested don’t delay to get your enrollment packet in front of A-12 or from Mrs. Lewis in C16 or Mr. Hernandez in A-16. The discount and scholarships deadline is October 6. Attention Seniors: Are you considering pursuing science, math or nursing in college? Do you have a natural inclination and curiosity for science? If yes, we invite you and your parent or guardian to join us to learn more about the Heyl Science Scholarship to study math or science at Kalamazoo College or nursing at the WMU Bronson School of Nursing. Hispanic Heritage Month Person of the Day is: Miriam Colon
Miriam Colon was a Puerto Rican actress. Colón was the founder and director of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater in New York City. Beginning her career in the early 1950s, Colón started performing on Broadway, later moving into television. Known for appearances on various television shows from the 1960s through the 2010s, including Sanford and Son where she played Carlota Fuentes, the sister of Julio Fuentes. She is perhaps best known for her role as Mama Montana in the 1983 crime film Scarface. In 2014, Colón received the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama.
