The Book Club will meet today from 2:30-3:30 in the library.   The Cinderella Project of Kalamazoo 2025 Dress Giveaway Event will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Program and Training Center in Kalamazoo. Our event is open to any high school student in need of a dress for prom! Appointments are required for all participants, and appointment booking begins on March 1, 2025. Booking information can be found by scanning the QR codes located on posters in the hallway and the main office.   Haven't checked out GSA yet? We are a social club with an activism angle, open to all LGBTQIA+ students and allies who want to enjoy each other's company in a welcoming space. Join us for games, movies, hangouts, and social projects. We meet Tuesdays in Mr. Ezekiel's room, M12E.   Kalamazoo United Women's Lacrosse is looking for more athletes interested in joining! Spring season starts March 10th and there are no try outs!   Both men’s and women’s teams will be Conditioning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Maple St middle school from 7-9pm now until the end of February.   Attention graduating Seniors! If you have an interest in speaking at your commencement ceremony, you need to sign-up in room B-18 by Tuesday, February 25th.   Seniors, I bet you looked SO cute as a baby! Want to prove it? This year we will be performing the hit production MiddleTown, a comedic yet touching modern take on the American classic, Our Town. Interested in performing on stage? We will have a free audition workshop after school on Thursday, February 27th in the choir room; Auditions will begin on Monday March 3rd. Are you interested in helping out BEHIND the scenes? Then come to Crew Club. The Crew Club meets every Thursday in the Auditorium from 2:30-4:00. All are welcome. See Mr. Lafferty with any questions.   Attention 12th grade Males: If you are on track to graduate this year and are African American or Hispanic, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity has a scholarship for you. Please pick up a copy from the counseling office or ask your counselor about it. Remember a scholarship is FREE money and all you need to do is put some time into the application.   Hello all possible golf players for the upcoming men’s golf season. There will be an informational meeting on Thursday February 27th in the Loy Norrix Cafeteria at 2:30pm. We will be going over expectations for the upcoming golf season and covering important information for the 2025 golf season. All high school golf players who are interested in playing men’s golf, please come to the meeting on Thursday February 27th at 2:30pm in the cafeteria!    Want a Tri 3 schedule change? Counselors will be in the lunchroom during all three lunches this week on Tuesday (2/25), Wednesday (2/26), and Thursday (2/27) to help you.   Do you love to cook? Or, do you want to learn how to cook? Have you ever thought about taking a culinary class? How about a culinary class in a different country? While in Spain, the travel club will be taking a culinary class and creating an authentic Spanish dish. You will eat what you make! Join the travel club on their trip to France, the Mediterranean, and Spain July 2026! Sign up by March 6, and receive $350 off the cost of the trip! Scholarships and other financial assistance is available, too. There will be an informational meeting Feb. 26 6:30 pm in D-11. Bring your parents! All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join.   This is the last week of indoor track training. Distance runners will be outside all week and sprinters will meet on Tuesday and Thursday. Next week is exam week with no coach-led practices. Monday, March 10th starts mandatory practices for outdoor track. Spring Sports start March 10th you must pass four out of five classes to be eligible to participate, have an athletic physical on file with planeths.com and pay your $50 insurance fee before you try out. If you have already participated in a sport this year you are all set.   The last indoor track meet of the season was held over the weekend at GVSU. The women's teams consisting of Macy, Layla, Sofia, Jenna, and Lily ran in the Distance Medley Relay and 4x400m relays with great times but just short of the state meet qualifications. Sofia individually ran the 800m run with a personal best and just off the state cut by 2 seconds. Jackson ran the 3200 beating many in the so-called-elite field to a personal best that solidified his place in the indoor state meet. Please congratulate these runners. Jackson, Elliott, and Teagan all qualified over the winter to compete in the state meet at CMU in a week and a half.   The winner of the Class of 2027 t-shirt or hoodie raffle is NiaAsia C. NiaAsia, you won a hoodie. Please contact Ms. McMillon in K13 for more information. Congratulations to Ms. Pankop's Advanced Journalism class for winning this year's food drive! They brought in half of the school's total and earned a food day courtesy of Mr. Aguinaga! Thank you to all the classes that brought in food. And thank you to all of the National Honor Society students that participated in this event. Together we brought in 1,800 pounds of food for the Kalamazoo community, the highest total in the past three years. We look forward to building on this next year.   AAC will be open today for tutoring from 2:30-3:30 in the following rooms; social studies in k13, science in c10, ESL support in k5w, Spanish in a18, courseware in k10, and study hall in a19. The testing room will also be available in the a-wing offices. Please have your teacher contact Mrs Hensen regarding make-up testing.   The Poetry Club will meet today, Tuesday, February 25th, in C-13, Mr. Eiler's room, from 2:30 to 3:30.   Current 9th-grade students will be able to attend a college visit to Western Michigan University on Thursday, March 27th called Bronco Buds. Permission slips will be given to you from your 1st-hour freshman classes. If you do not have a 1st hour of freshman class, please ask your next hour class for a permission slip. The team ended their Dual meet season going 7 and 1. The team is now second place in the conference going into the SMAC Championship meet. AAC will be open today for tutoring from 230-330 in the following rooms; social studies in A19, math in C16, English in A21, science in C19, Spanish in K12, and study hall in D12.   Book Club will meet in the library Tuesday, February 18 from 2:30-3:30.   There will be a Youth in Government meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, after school in Mrs. Johnson's room, which is D18. If you are attending the conference in Lansing, plan to attend the meeting tomorrow in D18.   Poetry Club will be meeting Tuesday from 2:30 to 3:30 in C-13, Mr. Eiler's room.   Our Bowling teams finished up the regular season on Saturday. The boys team defeated Kal. Central. By doing so, and a loss by Portage Northern we were able to finish 2nd in the conference. The girls team defeated Mattawan. By doing so, they were able to finish in 4th for the year. We finished with several individual awards as well. The boys finished in the top three for high game and high series. Haneef Hampton won the high game, and high series awards. Devin Harris, Dylan Ashbaugh, and Zoe Wazny were all named in the "All Conference" awards. All in all, a solid season for both teams. We are collecting non-perishable food items to donate to Loaves and Fishes. You can donate food to any one of your teachers. AAC will be open today for tutoring from 230-330 in the following rooms; social studies in K13, math in D13, English in A16, ESL Support in K5W, Spanish in A18, Math SAT Prep in B13, Courseware in K10, and study hall in D10.   Do you like books? The trip will start in Paris, France where we will visit the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Palace of Versailles and many more historic landmarks. From Paris we will travel by one of the fastest trains in Europe to Southern France on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. After our time in France, the remainder of the trip will be Spain: Barcelona and Madrid!! Anyone who signs up for this trip by March 6, 2025 will receive $350 off the cost of the trip. Here are the results for the Kalamazoo United ski team in the regionals last weekend. The boys once again finished fifth place upsetting power house ski programs like Forest Hills, Portage and Grand Haven. They raced on the hardest race courses in the state at Schuss Mountain. Junior Sam Oberlee from Norrix finished 5th in giant slalom and 11th in Slalom. He qualified for state finals in both disciplines. That’s a KU first! Representing the boys from Norrix is Sam Oberlee, Luke Buydendorp, Nolan Kiplinger, Michael Austin, and Graydon Heystek.   The girls finished a team best 7th as they upset Portage as well. Amelia Todd from Kalamazoo Central qualified for state finals as well for giant slalom! This is a Kalamazoo United first as well. Representing the Kalamazoo United team for girls from Norrix is Lizzie Bierlein, Mary Ewing, and Zoe Newman.

All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join.   Heaven Cole headed over to Dowagiac for the Individual Districts. After 4 rounds of wrestling she walked away victorious, named the school 1st Girls Individual district champion.   The Boys wrestling knights fought hard @ Howell for the individual Districts, walking away with two regional Qualifiers Conrado Carrillo @ 3rd place and Nasir Spurlock @ 4th. Individual Regionals for both Boys/Girls are this Saturday/Sunday Feb 15th-16th @ Portage Northern.
