“Whoa,” was former freshman Caitlin Commissaris’ first thought when she came to Loy Norrix High School. Everyone was so diverse compared to her old school. Commissaris said everyone at Norrix was different. They didn’t dress or look the same. Everyone at Norrix had their own style.
“People at my old school weren’t so diverse. They looked, acted and dressed the same and they were snotty,” said Commissaris.
She also pointed out how different Norrix was compared to her old school. Commissaris said “The hallways are overcrowded.”
When Commissaris was at her old school people acted the same because they were afraid of being judged.
“I can be myself,” said Commissaris, now that she attends Norrix.
When she came to Norrix Commissaris found her first real boyfriend, whom she has now been dating for a year.
We all have had our worst and best years. Commissaris’ best year was 9th grade. She found her first real boyfriend and she got to experience what it was like going to a more diverse school where everyone was different.
Commissaris’ worst year was 6th grade because that was the year she was made fun of because of her nerdiness.
Now that she attends Norrix that has changed. Commissaris actually enjoys being at Norrix.
“You can be your own person,” said Commissaris.
Commissaris lives with her mom, stepdad, and twin sister. Her dad lives in Chicago where she currently lived before moving. Commissaris’s dad is a chemical engineer, which is what she plans on pursuing for her career. Commissaris wants to be a chemical engineer because they make a lot of money and they travel a lot. Commissaris hopes to attend either the University of Michigan or Michigan Tech.
