The 2014 World Cup may be just a couple weeks away, but time is not in our favor as Brazil frantically prepares for the World Cup. Across the world, soccer brings problems whether it’s an eruption by the fans after a bad call a referee makes or simply too much celebrating has lead to many injuries and deaths. In June this year international fans will be looking to find a place to stay that has clean water or a place for them on a Brazilian subway which has over 300 thousand commuters daily.
Every four years it’s seems to be a privilege for the host country to bring in all the players and fans from other countries for the World Cup but this year there is something different in the air. Brazilian’s are upset there is being so much money put into the World Cup that Brazilian people feel their needs have been pushed aside for a sport. Civilians across the country have reacted by smashing windows at local restaurants, just doing anything they can to slow down the progression of the World Cup spendings. Instead of hiring more security or talking to the people of Brazil, officials have added more staff to clean up damage and make the cities look clean cut for the opening day on June 12th.
However the experience of the World Cup never changes, it’s the most watched sports tournament of all time, forget the Super Bowl.
In 2010 South Africa got to experience the craziest time of every four years in the world. Spain brought home the trophy and looks to defend their title. Although, this year Brazil look to take over on their home turf as their odds are 3-1.
After surveying Loy Norrix students we were able to break down the predictions of who will win the World Cup to just four teams. Who do you think will win?
