Here are the results of the Social Justice Book Quiz Bowl. Our 9th-10th grade team competing in last night’s finals fell short but the two 11 and 12th grade teams from Norrix went toe to toe until the team of Kim Chheu, Megan Hybels, Cecilia Mireles Caballero and Carson Williams edged themselves winners to bring home the trophy once again. This is the 9th year in a row that Norrix 11th-12th grade teams have won Districts.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? It should be YOU! Come watch the Michigan premiere of the production, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” and see your incredible classmates tell a story focused on race, family and love. There are shows on Thursday, February 13, Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, February 16 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are only $7 with Saturday being discounted for only $5 with your student ID! Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Please see Mrs. Carrow in J11 if you have any questions.

Juniors – are you interested in dual enrollment for next year. Not sure of your next steps or how to sign up. Please come to our dual enrollment information session Friday, February 14th during 2nd period in the cafeteria. Sign up in the counseling office today!

It’s February, and you know what that means… Valentine’s Day is almost here! Are you looking for a fun, thoughtful, and unique way to show someone you care? Then let the LoyNorrix Choir take care of that for you. We’ll sweetly serenade your special someone and your friends with a Singing Valentine during classes on February 14. Singing Valentines cost just $3 for a song and a Hershey’s kiss, or $5 for a song and a full-size chocolate bar, and they can be purchased during all three lunches. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and if you have that one special person and want to let them know how special they are to you, then Green school has got you covered. You can stop by the table during your lunch and buy a flower, candy and add an anonymous note for as little as $2 for a flower or $3 for a flower, candy and a card.

Latin and Travel Clubs are sponsoring a fabulous trip to Italy in 2021. There will be a parent and student information meeting on Monday, February 10th at 6:30 pm in room A12. You may get enrollment packets from Mr. Hernandez in A16 or Ms. Van Lieu in A12. There is a large scholarship available for the next 2 weeks. Don’t delay in enrolling.

Travel Club to Paris will meet on February, 10, Monday at 7:00 pm in room A12. Travel to Italy will meet on Feb 10 at 6:30 pm in room A16. Pick up enrollment packets from Mr. Hernandez or Ms. Van Lieu in either room. There are still 2 spots for Scandinavia. See Ms. Van Lieu.

Deca, Deca, Deca! There is still time to sign up for next year’s Business Academy. We will travel, run a small school store and prepare to compete in the District, State and National competitions. State winner will compete in California, Yes Disneyland. See you counselor or Mr. Ward for more information.

Do you have some hidden talent? Can you sing, dance, yo-yo, produce poetry, play an instrument or some other special talent? We have a rare opportunity for you to showcase your talent. We are hosting a talent show March 13, we will have open auditions February 19 and 26. You can pre-register for auditions by going to your email and completing a form or signing one of the sign-up sheets that are located in the library, four corners, cafeteria, outside the choir room, and in the tower.

Seniors, are you planning to attend Western Michigan University in the Fall of 2020? If so, check your email and sign up with Miss Nesbitt for an WMU/K Promise Scholars appointment. WMU will be here this Friday to assess students’ needs and assist in completing their Scholarship Acceptance Form. The SAF is the legal binding document which allows for The Promise to cover your college tuition. If it is not completed The Promise cannot cover your tuition.
