If you are 17 and a half or older, please bring your state ID to the Library during lunch from now thru Friday, May 20 to get registered for upcoming elections. Hope to see you there! AAC will be open today from 230-330. There will be a Green School Meeting today after school in room B14. See you there! All are welcome. Hey seniors! Your library books are now overdue, please bring any and all books to the library. You can email Mr. Kreider or Ms. Landis with any questions. Get your Grad Bash ticket this week! If you can't get it online, bring $30 on Thursday when you pick up your cap and gown. Money, prizes, games and activities all night, as well as a Nationally known entertainer at 3am.! Dress comfy and bring a swimsuit and towel if you want to swim and tennis shoes if you want to play. There is something for everyone! The EFA Spring Dance Concert will be in Kasdorf Auditorium on Wednesday, May 25th at 6:00pm. The Spring Dance Concert will showcase dance styles such as Lyrical, Contemporary, AfroBeat, Ballet, and Hip Hop! Hope to see you there. See Ms. Holmes A-15 or Mrs. Lewis C-15 for enrollment packets The Loy Norrix track teams competed in the SMAC Championship track meet on Saturday at Portage Central High School. The women's team finished 9th with 36 points and the men's team finished 6th with 49.5 points. The women's team scored in all 4 relays with the best finish in the 4x400m relay in 5th place. Additional medals were earned by Jaelynn Smith in the 100 hurdles and Ana Dunfee in the 1600. The only field event to score was Lily Daniels and Ella Hawthorne in pole vault getting 7th and 4th respectively. The top women's event was the 400m where Ella Adalbert and Annaliese Bol earned 4th and 6th respectively both getting their season's best times. Kevin Lucas scored in both the 100m and 200m dash while Kayo Higgins scored in both the 110 and 300 hurdle races. Thomas Bannon medaled in pole vault as did the 4x800 meter relay. Trevor Watts and Sam Allen followed up their individual medal performances in the 110 hurdles and 800 respectively with a conference title in the 4x400 meter relay with Hank Perkins and James Rocco. Speaking of James Rocco, he jumped a personal best and conference title individually in high jump. The teams compete next Friday, again at Portage Central, for the regional meet and a chance to go to state. Please congratulate all of our athletes on a great season, meet, and wish them the best coming up this week.

The game put the Knights into the Gold Bracket of the SMAC Tournament for the first time since 2016. The last regular season home game is tonight vs. Sturgis. JV at 5, V 6:30. The Knights are trying also to hold on to the #2 seed in the MHSAA Tournament. The SMAC Tournament begins on Monday.

Last Monday, the track teams competed at Lakeview High School where the boys fell 116-46 and the girls fell 95.68. There were some good performances though. In the throws, Ethan Hall, Carter Gonzalez, Conner Harrington, Gigi Fox, and Alex King all had personal bests. Ella Hawthorne won the pole vault. Jaelynn Smith ran personal bests in both hurdle races while Trevor Watts won the 110 hurdles. Naomi Pulliam and Keven Lucas won the 100m dashes. The women's team also took 3 of the top four places in the 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 with highlights from Ella Adalbert, Reesha Link, Sofia Bogard, Macy Daniels, and Reaghan Babrick along with Kendall Sloan, Annaliese Bol and Amelia Isackson. The JT Long invitational was Friday. Out of the 12 teams that attended and scored, your women's team took 4th and the men's team took 3rd overall. Scoring and having a season or personal best were Duncan, Hank, Ella, and Annaliese in the 400, Amelia and Macy in the 800, Reese and Sofia in the 1600, Anna, Sofia, and Macy in the 3200, and Kayo Higgins in the 110 hurdles. In the field events Lilly had a season best and scored in pole vault getting over 8'6" for the first time, James got over 6' in high jump for the first time, and Anthony got over 50' in shot put for the first time, all placing 2nd. The punctuating races of the night were the last races with the men's and women's team battling down the stretch and needing to come back in the last few meters to take 2nd for the boys and 1st for the girls. They compete next in the JV meet at Gull Lake on Tuesday then the Conference Meet on Saturday.

The College Athlete Recognition is Monday, May 23. To qualify, you must submit the Google form that was emailed to you on May 2. The attachments needed on the form are your acceptance letter to your school and a letter or similar from the coach confirming your roster spot. The Deadline is May 13. There is a first time twist this year to help you leave your Athletic legacy for all to see. To do this, we had to set a deadline to get the items we need in time. Each athlete will be able to invite 5 friends to attend. Don’t miss it! If you have any questions, please stop by the Athletic Office. Loy Norrix Students Speak Up! Be sure to join us in the auditorium next Friday as students from the Black Student Union, GSA, Green School, Hispanic/Latinx Association, Women’s Empowerment, and Young Democrats share their views on issues that are important to us. The event is free and there are prizes!
