Your Loy Norrix High School Marching Band traveled to Battle Creek Central to perform at the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association Marching Festival. Our Marching Knights were evaluated and assessed by a panel of 3 profession adjudicators in the categories of Music Performance, Marching Performance, and General Effect/Showmanship. All bands in the MSBOA Festival are rated on an impartial scale, of 1 being the highest and 5 being the lowest. For the 4th Festival in a row, your Marching Knights earned an Overall Division 1 Performance! Not only that, but they achieved Straight Division 1s rom all 3 judges! This is the highest rating any Marching Band can achieve. Well done, LNHS Marching Knights! If you purchased school pictures and have not received them, there are a lot of them in the Athletic Office. The photos were not properly tagged so we need you to come and pick them up. Seniors! The yearbook staff will be taking a senior class photo during first hour tomorrow, Friday, on the football field. Seniors will be dismissed to take the photo around 7:40 and will return to their first period class. Seniors, please wear your blue and white for spirit day and wear waterproof shoes as the field may be dewey. Juniors and Seniors! Have you started your college search yet? Well then the YES club is for you. Come to the first meeting, Wednesday Oct. 20th from 2:30 to 3:30 in room D-4. Attention Rocket League, Valorant, Overwatch players and other gamers, the E sports club is back! There will be a short meeting in Mr. Wood's Room C-19 on Thursday October 21st at 2:30 to hammer out some detail and get things going. Please contact Mr. Wood if you have any questions. Sword and Board will be meeting today, Wednesday from 1045-1145am in room C16. All tabletop games and gamers are invited There will be no AAC today due to conferences. AAC will be available Thursday. Seniors: This tonight during conferences, your counselors will be hosting a FAFSA Knight in the library! Please come up to the school any time between 4:30-7:30pm with your guardian and all the required documents for filling out the FAFSA. We will be there to assist you as you fill out this required information for attending college. Juniors and Seniors! Have you started your college search yet? Wednesday is Formal Day… Seniors in the lead…. But it’s close! Your participation is what makes it fun! AAC will be open today from 230-330pm. If you need help with your school work, come stop by C16 and Mr OBryan will direct you to an AAC room with a teacher specific to your needs. Attention Junior and Senior Women The Powder Puff Football game is on for Thursday October 14th. You must sign up to play with Ms. Van Lieu in A-12 or Mrs. Fires. Practice is today Monday, October 11th and Tuesday October 12th at 5:30pm. Practice is on the back field behind the tennis courts. See Ms. Van Lieu for more details. Club will be holding a meeting in Ms. Pankop’s classroom, K6, right after school for those interested in all things media arts. The Cybersecurity club will be meeting today, Oct 8th in M1 after school. Everyone is still welcome so stop by and see what our Loy Norrix Cyberpatriots are up to. Hispanic Heritage Month Person of the Day is: Julia de Burgos Julia was a Puerto Rican poet.As an advocate of Puerto Rican independence, she served as Secretary General of the Daughters of Freedom, the women's branch of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. She was also a civil rights activist for women and African/Afro-Caribbean writers.

Hispanic Heritage Month Person of the Day is: Miriam Colon Miriam Colon was a Puerto Rican actress. Colón was the founder and director of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater in New York City. Beginning her career in the early 1950s, Colón started performing on Broadway, later moving into television. Known for appearances on various television shows from the 1960s through the 2010s, including Sanford and Son where she played Carlota Fuentes, the sister of Julio Fuentes. She is perhaps best known for her role as Mama Montana in the 1983 crime film Scarface. In 2014, Colón received the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama.
