Your Loy Norrix High School Marching Band traveled to Battle Creek Central to perform at the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association Marching Festival. Our Marching Knights were evaluated and assessed by a panel of 3 profession adjudicators in the categories of Music Performance, Marching Performance, and General Effect/Showmanship. All bands in the MSBOA Festival are rated on an impartial scale, of 1 being the highest and 5 being the lowest. For the 4th Festival in a row, your Marching Knights earned an Overall Division 1 Performance! Not only that, but they achieved Straight Division 1s rom all 3 judges! This is the highest rating any Marching Band can achieve. Well done, LNHS Marching Knights! Hispanic Heritage Month Person of the Day is: Miriam Colon Miriam Colon was a Puerto Rican actress. Colón was the founder and director of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater in New York City. Beginning her career in the early 1950s, Colón started performing on Broadway, later moving into television. Known for appearances on various television shows from the 1960s through the 2010s, including Sanford and Son where she played Carlota Fuentes, the sister of Julio Fuentes. She is perhaps best known for her role as Mama Montana in the 1983 crime film Scarface. In 2014, Colón received the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama.
