Juniors! Have you started studying for the SATs? Need a little help? Then stop by the Counseling Office for an official College Board study guide. We have 35 study guides, so first come, first served. Attention any one interested in playing Men's Volleyball this spring, there is a short meeting to pass out tryout information and other key details on Friday March 1 in the cafeteria. See you there. AAC will be open today from 230-330 for tutoring in the following rooms: English in B21, Math in B13, Science in C17, Social Studies in K13, ESL Support in K5W, Spanish in A18, Testing Room in A19, and Study Hall in C16. Please congratulate Jackson Lam on his Indoor Track State Meet Performances. He individually qualified in the 1600 and ran his 3rd fastest time ever in 4:28. This was the 27th overall and 6th fastest underclassman time. He also helped his team by running the 800 in the Sprint Medley and the 1600 in the Distance Medley the first day. They finished 9th and 13th respectively. Congratulations to our boys basketball on their 70-50 win over Portage northern! Senior Cedric Huntley led the way with 19 points, senior Leandre Braxton with 18 points and junior Julius DelaGarza with 10 points. The Knights will advance to the next round and play Rival Kalamazoo Central tomorrow at 5:30 pm at Portage Central High School! The basketball team is asking for a very loud student section to be in attendance tomorrow! Sword and Board will meet on Thursday from 2:30-3:30 in room C16. Sword and Board will meet on Thursday from 2:30-3:30 in room C16. All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join. This will be the last session for the trimester. Congratulations to senior basketball player Cedric Huntley for scoring his 1000th career point for the Loy Norrix varsity basketball program last night against Gull Lake! The Knights also picked up a 69-63 win over Gull Lake. The next playoff game will be next Monday at 7:00 p.m. against Portage Northern, at Portage Central High School. The team performed well against very good skiers from across the State of Michigan. They finished a record 5th place in the program, playing against teams from up north that had much more practice time. There are still spots available. The cost is $4,900.00, and you will have the opportunity to earn college credit. If you are interested in signing up, please check out the WorldStrides website and use code Kalamazoo-2024 to register. Please email Rebecca Learner in the Counseling Office for more information and she will schedule a time to meet with you this week or next. Romeo and Juliet, the thrilling play that you read in 9th grade English, is coming to the Loy Norrix Stage! This exciting play has it all: love, romance, sword fights, sleeping potions and so muc more. Seeing this play also makes for a great Valentine's Day date idea. Over the past four days, sixteen members of our Youth in Government group participated in mock trials and mock legislative activities at the State Capitol in Lansing. Leland Wagner was the conference's efficient Head Lobbyist, Dady Lo skillfully served as Speaker of the House, and Savannah Robert successfully wrote a bill that was passed by the Mock Legislature and signed by the Student Governor.  The 2024 Accolade yearbook is selling fast: there are fewer than 300 left, and the price will increase from $65 to $70 on Mar. 1.
