Grad Bash Tickets On Sale Today

By Adam Kemp

Seniors can purchase Grad Bash tickets in the cafeteria for $30 starting on May 21st. Grad Bash is an all-night trip for Loy Norrix graduates. This year Grad Bash is on June 6th. Graduates will meet with chaperones at Loy Norrix immediately after the end of the graduation ceremony to board a bus to an unknown destination. Seniors can expect to arrive back at Norrix around 7 the next morning.

Parents of graduates volunteer to organize and chaperone grad bash, and they do the fund-raising for it each year. This year parents raised money for grad bash by ‘flocking’ people’s front yards for donations, cleaning up the gym after the Norrix vs. Central basketball game, and even selling raffle tickets. Raffle tickets were ten dollars. One winner received $4000 and the Grad Bash Committee kept $4000. The volunteers decide where grad bash is going to be each year and keep it a secret to guarantee a night full of fun and surprises.

In the past Grad Bash parties have been at Craig’s Cruisers, Sherman Lake, Full Blast, and the Grand Rapids YMCA. Last year Grad Bash took graduates to Western Michigan University’s Recreational Center for the night.

Class of 2011 alumni Logan Freer attended last year. Freer said, “I thought it was a great way to end high school.”

The Grad Bash Committee typically expects about 130 to 150 graduates to attend each year. Seniors, buy your tickets soon and sign up for one last night to remember with your graduating class.
