After constantly hearing about how great the video game “Ghost of Tsushima” is for the past year from friends and family, I decided to use my Christmas money to go to Gamestop and buy it. 

I’d say It’s worth the $70 price and more. “Ghost of Tsushima” is the best next-generation game I have ever played, and there are a lot of good ones like the “God of War” games, “Dark Souls,” and “Uncharted.” 

“Ghost of Tsushima” is a PlayStation exclusive, so you can only get it on the PlayStation 4 or the PlayStation 5. Though it’s a PS4 game, it’s classified as a next-gen game. 

“Ghost of Tsushima” won 14 awards including game of the year in 2020 by the Tokyo game show. It sold over 8 million copies and counting. 

“Ghost of Tsushima” is an adventure/action story-driven game that takes place in the year 1274 on the island of Tsushima, Japan. As one of the only samurai left after the Mongol invasions, Jin Sakai, has to learn the way of “The Ghost” if he wants to accomplish his goals.

As players progress by liberating towns of Mongols and completing side-missions for people around the island, their legend grows and they earn more abilities that move the players closer to mastering the fighting style of the Ghost, such as different stances for different types of enemies. 

To reach the goal of liberating all Mongol territories, players have to take back the temples on the island that have been raided and taken over in the invasion. Whoever has control over these temples has control over the whole island. 

While being heavily outnumbered, players have to come up with elaborate strategies to sneak in and defeat the defenses and troops from within the fort. Then the task is to kill the commander. After this kill, a village of people moves in, and the player has control over that section of Tsushima. 

Once the gamer takes back the final temple, there is a showdown with Khotun Khan to restore peace to Tsushima after a long and exhausting war. 

This game has it all. A perfect story that might make you shed a few tears, plenty of areas to do whatever you want, beautiful graphics and a perfect balance between challenging and satisfying combat. 

If you’re looking for a next generation game to play, I would recommend “Ghost of Tsushima” over any other game out right now.
