AP Art Students Represent At National Portfolio Day

This past Sunday was the National Portfolio Day hosted by Kendall College of Art and Design. The Advanced Placement Art Class arrived early and ready to show off their pieces to potential colleges.
A portfolio day is an event that is available to students of all grade levels who are interested in attending an art college. Colleges from local areas are sure to send representatives who are eager to review a students’ body of work, otherwise known as their portfolio.
“I always get nervous,” said junior and AP Art student Brooks Eisenbise. “Everybody is typically nice but I am worried that the college people will be like ‘What the heck are you doing? This stuff sucks.’”
The representatives critique a student’s pieces and give them a variety of tips to help them improve their art skills. A few lucky students are even awarded scholarships through these events. Some have been awarded upwards of twenty thousand dollars for a specific college.
“After I left Kendall I felt more confident in my art. I knew what to do to improve my stuff,” reflected Brooks.
