The Lady Knights soccer team pulled out a great victory last night against a Portage Northern soccer team. The women’s soccer team has not beat Portage Northern since 1987.
When you look at soccer the power teams in the SMAC are usually the Portage schools. However the women’s team looks to change that and they took a huge step forward last night. Grace Labadie scored the only goal of the night with only 4:30 left on the clock. The Knights held off the Huskies to secure the 1-0 victory.
The Knights soccer team has been improving every year and look to make a deep state run this year with the experience of the Zabiks and Labadies. The two sets of twins lift the team a lot and know how to deal with certain situations.
The soccer team is now 4-1 and looking to take control of the SMAC conference. There next two games are important ones as well as they try to compete against the top competition in the SMAC. This Friday they have a home match against Mattawan then on Monday they try to sweep the Portage schools when they travel to Portage Central to take on the Mustangs. Come out and support the Knights as they look to improve in every game.
