The Loy Norrix Key Club has now begun their annual membership drive. If you are interested in joining Key Club, please pick up the membership profile outside of Ms. Nelson’s room, D13. Key Club is an international club in over 35 countries around the world. Its mission is to serve, build character and develop leadership. Being an active member looks great on resumes and college applications. Please see Ms. Nelson or a current Key Club member if you have any questions. The first Key Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 19th at 2:30 in room D13. All are welcome!

The Loy Norrix Jazz Band is accepting new members! If you can read music, and are interested in learning how to improvise and perform jazz, rock, or Latin music, join our band! We rehearse in the band room, J10, every Tuesday right after school. If interested, please contact Mr. Shebukhov or stop by the band room on Tuesday after school.

It’s that time of year again! Time to get ready for the Loy Norrix Musical! This year’s show will be “Oklahoma!” and we need actors, singers and dancers of all grades, genders and ethnicities. Are you interested? Then come to our free workshop next Tuesday the 19th, from 2:30 to 5:30, in the choir room, J12. The directors will teach you songs and a dance combination to help you prepare for your audition. We can also answer any questions you might have. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity to shine!

Are you interested in running for office someday or working in politics?  Our Youth in Government Team is a fun and exciting way to learn about how to be an elected official and get laws passed. This year, our Youth in Government team has a lot planned, and is ready to compete against hundreds of other Michigan students in the actual chambers of the Michigan Capitol. Come find out more after school today at our second Youth in Government meeting this year in D18, Ms. Johnson’s, room at 2:20!

GSA will begin Tuesday, September 19th, in room K1. We will meet from 2:30-3:30. Hope to see you there!

Attention, stage crew! We need help working backstage on the musical. Would you like to help with lights, sound, or set? We have an informational meeting for anyone who might be interested. Come ask questions and talk with the director and former crew members. You can also learn about our new Crew Club we will be starting this year. This informational meeting will be after school in room J11 on Wednesday the 20th. See Mr. Lafferty with any questions.

Remember the first day of school? Remember the first A you got on a test this year? Remember your first soccer game? The 2024 Accolade Yearbook does! The Yearbook staff is already working to help you remember your year, and it’s on sale for the lowest price for only two more weeks! Buy your 2024 yearbook online at www.yearbookordercenter.com with order number 12613, or bring $60, in cash or check, to K3 before or after school or during lunch. The price will increase on October 1!

Come support your Knights at their first home volleyball game, against Lakeview Battle Creek, this Wednesday. Freshmen and JV start at 5:30. Varsity will follow. Hope to see you there!

AAC will be open today for tutoring from 2:30-3:30 in the following rooms: social studies in C19, math in M12W, English in B11, science in B14, ESL support in K1, Spanish in K12, and study hall in C16.

Sword and Board club will meet this Thursday, from 2:30-3:30 in room C16. All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join.

Our cross country teams competed on Friday, at the Ottawa Hills Invite in Grand Rapids. Both teams placed two spots higher than projected. The girls were 9th and the boys 7th out of 16 and 18 teams respectively. There were 4 medalists: Sofia Bogard was 24th in the varsity division, Fletcher Stucky was 22nd in the JV race, and Dylan Duguay and Jackson Lam were 13th and 12th in the varsity boys’ race. It was the first time in over 15 years that we had 3 boys finish under 17 minutes in the same season, let alone the same 5k race. We are hosting our last meet of the season tomorrow, at KRESA 3/4 mile south of the school. Come and cheer on your classmates and friends! The races are at 5 and 5:45pm.
