The Loy Norrix Travel Club will be going to the Galapagos Islands this summer from Jul. 15 through Jul. 22. There are still spots available. The cost is $4,900.00, and you will have the opportunity to earn college credit. If you are interested in signing up, please check out the WorldStrides website and use code Kalamazoo-2024 to register. Please email Rebecca Learner in the Counseling Office for more information and she will schedule a time to meet with you this week or next.

If you are a graduating senior interested in speaking at your commencement ceremony, you need to sign up in room B18 by Tuesday, Feb. 27.

WIDA testing is being held today. If you have questions about what time or place your test is, please email Mrs. Kruger, Mr. Egwim, Mrs. Perry or Ms. Blake-Mark in the front office.

Romeo and Juliet, the thrilling play that you read in 9th grade English, is coming to the Loy Norrix Stage! This exciting play has it all: love, romance, sword fights, sleeping potions and so muc more. Seeing this play also makes for a great Valentine’s Day date idea. The play will run Thursday the 15th, Friday the 16th, and Saturday the 17th at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday the 18th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are only five dollars for students.

Are you a go-kart master? Do you have no fear of Blue Shells? Come prove it after school on Feb. 28, in room C19, as the Esports Club presents their Mario Kart Tournament. Scan the QR codes around the school or use the code u3wziea to join the Esports Google Classroom and sign up to participate.

AAC will be open today from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. for tutoring in the following rooms: English in B21, Math in B13, Science in C17, Social Studies in K13, ESL Support in K5W, Testing Room in A19 and Study Hall in C16.

There will be no AAC tomorrow due to staff professional development.

The Sword and Board Club will meet Thursday, Feb. 8 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in room C16. All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join.

The Class of 2027 will be hosting the Winterfest dance this Friday, Feb. 16, from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. Tickets will be on sale for $15 apiece at all three lunches starting Monday, Feb. 12 and continuing until the day of the event. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for $20. There will also be a gift card raffle for several businesses, including Barnes & Noble, WingStop and Target. See class advisor Ms. McMillon if you have any questions.

If you are a senior, check your email for the nomination form for the senior superlative elections for the 2024 Accolade Yearbook. Today is the final day for nominations, which must be submitted by noon. The final five students from each category will move on to the final vote later this week.

Over the past four days, sixteen members of our Youth in Government group participated in mock trials and mock legislative activities at the State Capitol in Lansing. Leland Wagner was the conference’s efficient Head Lobbyist, Dady Lo skillfully served as Speaker of the House, and Savannah Robert successfully wrote a bill that was passed by the Mock Legislature and signed by the Student Governor.

The 2024 Accolade yearbook is selling fast: there are fewer than 300 left, and the price will increase from $65 to $70 on Mar. 1. Additionally, the deadline for senior ads and baby pictures is this Friday, February 16. Both may be ordered at www.yearbookordercenter.com with order number 12613, or paid for with cash or check in room K3.

Due to WIDA testing, the library will be closed all day today.
