The Loy Norrix Key Club has now begun their annual membership drive. If you are interested in joining Key Club, please pick up the membership profile outside of Ms. Nelson's room, D13. Key Club is an international club in over 35 countries around the world. Its mission is to serve, build character and develop leadership. Being an active member looks great on resumes and college applications. Please see Ms. Nelson or a current Key Club member if you have any questions. The first Key Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 19th at 2:30 in Ms. Nelson's room, D13. All are welcome! The Loy Norrix Jazz Band is accepting new members! If you can read music, and are interested in learning how to improvise and perform jazz, rock or Latin music,  join our band! We rehearse in the band room, J10, every Tuesday right after school. If interested, please contact Mr. Shebukhov or stop by the band room on Tuesday after school. It's that time of year again! Time to get ready for the Loy Norrix Musical! This year's show will be "Oklahoma!" and we need actors, singers, and dancers of all grades, genders, and ethnicities. Are you interested? Then come to our free workshop today, from 2:30 to 5:30, in the choir room, J12. The directors will teach you songs and a dance combination to help you prepare for your audition. We can also answer any questions you might have. Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity to shine! GSA will begin today, in room K1. We will meet from 2:30 to 3:30. Hope to see you there! Attention, stage crew! We also need help working backstage on the musical. Would you like to help with lights, sound, or set? We have an informational meeting for anyone who might be interested. Come ask questions and talk with the director and former crew members. You can also learn about our new Crew Club we will be starting this year. This informational meeting will be after school in room J11 on Wednesday the 20th. See Mr. Lafferty with any questions. Remember the first day of school? The Yearbook staff is already working to help you remember your year, and it's on sale for the lowest price of the year for only two more weeks! Buy your 2024 yearbook online at www.yearbookordercenter.com with order number 12613, or bring $60, cash or check, to K3 before or after school, or during lunch. The price will increase on October 1! Come support your Knights at their first home volleyball game against Lakeview Battle Creek this Wednesday. Freshmen and JV start at 5:30. Varsity will follow. Hope to see you there! Sword and Board will meet this Thursday, from 2:30 to 3:30, in room C16. All tabletop gamers and games are invited to join. We are hosting our last Cross Country meet of the season today at KRESA, three-quarters of a mile south of Loy Norrix. Come and cheer on your classmates and friends! The races are at 5 and 5:45pm. AAC will be open today for tutoring from 2:30 to 3:30 in the following rooms: social studies in K13, math in B23, English in B21, science in C17, ESL support in K5W, Spanish in K12, and SAT math prep in B13. There will be no study hall today. There will be no AAC tomorrow, Wednesday, due to a staff meeting. Sword and Board will meet Thursday, from 2:30 to 3:30, in room C16. Our cross country teams competed on Friday, at the Ottawa Hills Invite in Grand Rapids. Both teams placed two spots higher than projected. The girls were 9th and the boys 7th out of 16 and 18 teams respectively. There were 4 medalists: Sofia Bogard was 24th in the varsity division, Fletcher Stucky was 22nd in the JV race, and Dylan Duguay and Jackson Lam were 13th and 12th in the varsity boys' race. It was the first time in over 15 years that we had 3 boys finish under 17 minutes in the same season, let alone the same 5k race. We are hosting our last meet of the season tomorrow, at KRESA 3/4 mile south of the school. Come and cheer on your classmates and friends! The races are at 5 and 5:45pm.

Our golf team was 2nd place out of 12 Teams! Two players received medals for being in the Top 10! Isaac Scavarda and Xander Gorham! Attention Seniors: Grad Bash ticket sales end soon! Buy your ticket online, at the office, in the cafeteria on Wednesday or at the awards ceremony on Friday. Tickets will not be sold at the door on the day of the event; advanced purchase is required in order to attend. The winners of last week’s Grad Bash gift card drawing are Kamiyah Betts and Albert Godayol-Carceller. Kamiyah & Albert, please pick up your prizes from Ms. Reimink in the office. More prize winners will be announced at Grad Bash! There will be the second to last Chess Club today during all lunch shifts in computer lab D-10. If you would like to attend, please pick up a purple lunch pass and bring your lunch. Anybody with a pass may attend, and anyone who beats Mr. Bellware wins a custom-made chess board. Sword and Board will meet today from 230-330 in room C16. All tabletop gamers and games are invited. There will be a Green School meeting Thursday in room B14. All are welcome, see you there! If you’re in AP Art for the 2023/24 school year stop by A-12 and see Mr. Stevens for the summer assignment. If you have any clothes please bring them to the drop off box located in the Library. The last day to bring in clothes will be Thursday, May 25th. The spring event is taking place at Kalamazoo Nature Center on May 27th at 3-8 PM. Please come to shop, listen to a live band and get free food! Any track and field athlete that is no longer practicing needs to turn in their uniform and any other school issued equipment to Mr Schmidt, Mrs Rocco, Mr Duckett, or the athletic office as soon as possible please. If you take it to the athletic office, please put everything in a plastic or paper bag with your name on it. Failing to turn in your uniform or other equipment will lead to you not getting any awards and being charged fees. Please take care of this. And now a message from Coach Kendra Logan with women’s basketball. We will be having open gyms every Tuesday beginning next Tuesday, May 23rd. All young ladies are welcome. This will be the beginning of our transition into the summer with team camps and workouts. Please spread the word! We hope to see as many young ladies as possible next Tuesday and every Tuesday thereafter!
