Seniors- Class of 2023 T-Shirts are now on sale and being sold in the Main Office----They are now $10- Stop by before or after school to get your shirt! Everyone that buys a T-Shirt will be entered into a drawing for a "Class of 2023 Hoodie” Get your shirt before they sell out! AAC will be open today from 2:30-3:30 pm in only the Library for Study Hall due to new teacher meetings. Thank you to everyone who picked up their yearbooks at the signing party! Any track and field athlete that is no longer practicing needs to turn in their uniform and any other school issued equipment to Mr Schmidt, Mrs Rocco, Mr Duckett, or the athletic office as soon as possible please. If you take it to the athletic office, please put everything in a plastic or paper bag with your name on it. Saturday Loy Norrix Esports finished our MiHSEF season this past Saturday at UM Flint. After an early morning and technical difficulties beyond anyone's control, our Smite team placed 3rd and our Overwatch team was defeated by the eventual winner of the tournament, Detroit Catholic Central. Congratulations players, we did great Yearbooks are here and will be given out tomorrow at 2:00! You must buy a yearbook in advance to attend the Yearbook Signing Party tomorrow. There are only around 125 left, so come to K3 before or after school or during lunch with $65 cash or check, or buy online at www.yearbookordercenter.com with order number 12613! Issac was tied for 5th best score and received a medal for his low round. The rest of the Team played strong too with the following scores for the tournament: Xandor Gorham shot a nice round of 83. Sam Gagie shot a very solid round of 86. Aaron Teal shot a nice round of 87. Connor Rafferty shot a solid 88 for the tournament! Nice Job Loy Norrix Knights Varsity Golf Team. The conference championship was held in track and field at Portage Central on Saturday. Both teams performed well. While none of our sprinters or throwers placed, the mid-distance, distance, and jumpers had a great showing and all relays scored. Ana was 3rd in the 800 and 1600, Sofia and Abby scored in those events as well. Trevor was 2nd in both hurdle events while Naomi and Neveah scored in one of those each as well. Jackson was 3rd in the 1600 and Sam was 2nd in the 800. James was first in high jump and Thomas was 2nd in pole vault. Trevor also scored in long jump, Helen in pole vault, and Nevaeh in high jump. The highlight of the meet was the 4x800 relay team of Oskar, Jackson, Gryffin, and Sam setting the school and conference meet records in a time under 8 minutes! Congratulate everyone and encourage them this week as they prepare for the regional meet on Friday.

The Kalamazoo Promise will be hosting a Post-Secondary Signing Day celebration tomorrow, May 12th from 10am-1pm. Departure will be immediately after 1st hour. This will be a celebratory event and a resource fair. All Seniors are welcomed, not just promise eligible students. Look out for an email from your promise coach with more details or stop by their office if you have questions. This week there will be a school lunch survey available to take in the cafeteria by scanning the QR code on the flyers provided. By submitting a survey you are automatically entered to win a prize. Prizes include wireless earbuds, a mini movie projector, a waterproof action camera, and more! Your feedback is important to KPS Food Service. Don’t forget to submit your survey by May 17th to be entered to win! AAC will be open today from 230-330 in the following rooms; Science in C17 and Spanish in A18. The Women’s Soccer team has had 2 strong performances this week. They defeated Portage Northern 3-0 on Monday and then tied the conference leading Mattawan team 0-0 last night. It was definitely a tense game against Mattawan with some near misses in the last minutes of the contest. To be the best, you need to play the best. The team will host #12 ranked Plainwell on Friday. The Don Lukens meet was last Friday for our track teams. There was tough competition from all over the state. Of the 17 schools that attended, our girls finished 7th with 35 points and our boys finished 3rd with 75 points. With the women's team, we scored in 3 out of 4 relays, Ana got first in the 3200 and 4th in the 800 with personal bests in both, and Eloise, Helen, and Sofia scored in their events. With the men, only 2 relays scored but one was first and the other was 3rd. They scored in every individual event except the 1600, 200, and 400. Trevor got second in both hurdle events and the long jump, James was first in high jump, Jackson and Danny scored in the 3200, and Carlton scored in the 100. THe highlight of the meet was Sam winning the 800 in the last hundredth of a second, setting the new meet record, and taking home the individual male athlete of the meet award. Attention! Our men’s volleyball team is playing in their last conference home quad tonight at 6 in the gym. $5 to get in come fill the gym and show the guys your support! Congratulations to Naysa Quinones and Chris Brown. Their names were pulled for the athletic volunteer hours drawing. There will be another drawing on Thursday. The library will not be available today due to a special event. Do not come to the library today. Thank you. Last night the men’s volleyball team went 2-1 in our conference quad with wins over Battle Creek central and Calhoun Christian and falling just short in the 3rd set to Kalamazoo Christian. After a couple of injuries in games 1 and 2, guys stepped in off the bench and played some positions they were not used to. The boys have a tournament at cornerstone university on Saturday and are back to conference play with a home quad here at Loy Norrix on Monday May 1st. Let’s fill the stands and show some support for our boys! The Women’s Tennis team is now 8-3 overall after defeating Portage Northern 6-2. The Women’s Track Team is now 2-1 overall after defeating Battle Creek Pennfield 128-33 last night. The Men’s Track Team is now 2-1 overall after defeating Battle Creek Pennfield 144-18 last night. The Men’s Golf Team WON the first SMAC East Jamboree of the season with a score of 170 winning by 5 strokes over KC and Gull Lake. The Women’s Soccer team lost 5-1 to #2 Gull Lake last night. The Loy Norrix Travel Club will be going to Greece next summer. If you would like to learn more about this great adventure, come to an informational meeting in the cafeteria on Tuesday, April 25th at 6:30 P.M. Information packets can be found in the tower and by the Counseling Office. We will not have Upward Bound Tutoring this week at Loy Norrix. AAC will be open today from 230-330 in the following rooms; English in the back Library, Math in M12W, Science in B15, Social Studies in K2, Spanish in A18, SAT Prep in B13, and Study Hall in the main Library. Snacks will be available for students who complete work in an AAC room. Attention all Sophomores and Juniors! We want you to apply for next year’s Link Crew! Link Crew is our freshman transition program, where we come together as a team to support next year’s freshmen as they transition successfully to high school. Link Crew is all about learning new leadership skills, helping others, and having a lot of fun. If you want to make a difference at Loy Norrix, pick up an application in the main office or the library. Be sure to read the application carefully and note the mandatory dates at the bottom. If you missed the first info meeting, you can come on Wednesday, April 26th, from 2:30-3:00pm in B23 to get more information. Applications are due Friday, April 28th by 2:30 in the main office or library. See Mr. Hernandez, Ms. Milton, or Ms. Simpson if you have any questions Attention students: You have a google form in your email for College Athlete Recognition Day.
