Season opener for the bowling team against Gull Lake: boys: Our boys team dominated the score from the beginning winning both baker games. Then not losing a single point in the 1st regular game. The team did so well, we were able to pull the starters and allowed the rest of the team to get enough points to insure the victory. 3-0 girls: The girls had an uphill battle with Gull Lake girls. Just getting edged out for the baker games, they rallied to take the 1st regular game. Unfortunately it was not enough as Gull lake took the 2nd game and the victory 2-1. It was a hard fought battle for our young girls team. Week 2 against Three Rivers: boys: The boys continue to roll as we defeated Three Rivers in a decisive fashion. The 1st Baker game was close, but we won it with them missing a key spare. The boys did not look back after that, winning the next by over 40 pins. We then dominated them by not giving up a single point the 1st game. Pulling the starters again, we only gave up 3 points all day. Anthony Fotis led the team with scores of 231 and 205. Hunter Connolly and Haneef Hampton contributed with 181 and 180 games. Newcomer, Jonavan Hare had a breakout day with 167 and 159 games. Girls: We have a young squad, having only 2 girls returning this year. And we ran into a tougher opponent in the Three Rivers girls. We did not fare well in the baker games. And, we lost the 1st regular game by a very slim margin, but we were able to rally back and take the 2nd game and the series. We fought hard, and will continue to gain ground. Hope Dunn led the girls with games of 165 and 180. Zoe Wazny contributed with 114 and 123. Alyssa Capps and Fabienne Altenburger also helped the team with 100+ games. Men’s swim kicked off the season last Thursday with a home dual against Battle Creek Lakeview. The Knights fell to the Spartans 74-111. Gryffin Hurley won the 50 Freestyle. Over the weekend the team won the 8th annual City Sprints Relay in Grand Rapids. Divers Isaac Patrick, Zander Ligman, and Thomas Bannon won the diving event. Swimmers Gryffin Hurley, Robbie Kays, Jaume Pons Santamaria, and Manuel Bello won the 200 Medley Relay. Knights are headed to St. Joe on Thursday.
