The GSA will meet today in Room K1 at 2:30 to hear a presentation on identities from Out Front Kalamazoo.
AAC will be open for tutoring today in the following rooms: English in K13, Math in C16, Science in C17, Social Studies in K2, Spanish in A18, Chinese in K1, Study Hall in B22, and testing in A19.

The results from Flint this weekend for your Loy Norrix Esports teams are in: our League of Legends team is state runner-up, taking our first game from Mona Shores then losing a hard fought battle to East Kentwood. Our Smash team lost in round 3 in a close fight with Charlotte, and then another close loss in the battle back bracket to Mona Shores ended our day. Everyone was a great sport, and the day was a huge success. Congratulations everyone, and lets look forward to next year!

The 2023 Accolade Yearbook Staff won 38 Individual Awards at the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association Spring Awards Ceremony! This includes four first place awards, six second place awards, and four third place awards, as well as many Honorable Mentions. Our women's soccer team has a home conference game tonight against Portage Central High school. JV starts at 5:00 p.m. and varsity starts at 6:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy the nice weather and support our Knights as they look to continue their awesome season.
The library will be closed during the first three class periods today due to AP practice testing.
Our baseball team split with the visitors from Gull Lake last night. Losing the first game, the Knights were able to bounce back, taking the second game 6-1. Norrix was led to victory by junior Jackson Bennett who started and pitched six innings, allowing just one run and striking out six batters. Our team was led at the plate by junior Sayani Jones and senior Lucas Frankart, who both hit towering home runs to surge the Knights to victory. The boys will be back in action tomorrow at home against Portage Central.

The track teams competed and succeeded at both Portage Central and Portage Northern last Friday. JV men placed 3rd with 72 points, while JV women placed 5th with 49 points. The men's and women's Sprint Medley relay mixed 4x400 relay teams all took 1st while several other relay teams secured second place. At the varsity meet, Jackson Lam won the 1600 and 3200 meter races; the 4x800 relay team also collectively won. Ciarra Freeman, Aquarius Johnson, Sofia Bogard, Jaylind Motton and several other relays also finished top 3. We host 2 meets this week: one on Tuesday and the Don Lukens Invite on Friday. Please come out and support your teams.

The Kalamazoo Promise Signing Day event is approaching. All seniors are invited to attend the event downtown at the Arcadia Festival Site on May 10. There will be live music, karaoke, a lip sync battle, raffles, food trucks, carnival games and more. Please make sure if you are Promise eligible, your Promise Application and Scholarship Acceptance Form are submitted before the day of the event. Please reach out to Coach Moore for more information.
Esports Club members, there will be a short meeting on Apr. 24 in Mr. Wood's room, C19, to discuss another in-school event, the upcoming playoffs and plans for next year. The meeting will start at 2:30 p.m. and last for around 30 minutes. Contact Mr. Wood if you have any questions.

Link Crew is our freshman transition program, where we come together as a team to support next year’s freshmen as they transition successfully to high school. Link Crew is all about learning new leadership skills, helping others, and having a lot of fun. If you want to make a difference at Loy Norrix, pick up an application in the main office or the library. Be sure to read the application carefully and note the mandatory dates at the bottom. The Loy Norrix Forensics team has been slaying it these past few months, delivering speeches and performances that have dazzled judges and audiences alike. Now it's your turn to see what the buzz is all about. The forensics team will be hosting Forensics Night, a free performance in the auditorium, on Wednesday, Apr. 24 at 7:00 p.m. Come see your fellow students deliver the performances they've been working on all season!

Last Friday, our track teams competed in the Ram Classic in Rockford for the first time. Even with the windy conditions, we still had some good performances: Jackson Lam had the biggest day with a 4th in the 800 and a 5th in the 1600, while Aquarius Johnson achieved 4th place in the 400. Jaylind Motton and Nevaeh Burrel scored in the high jump, and Ciarra Freeman scored in the 200 as well. Meanwhile, at the Kalamazoo Central dual meet, the girls won and the boys only lost by a few points. The scores were 92-68 for the women and 77.5-85.5 for the men. Ciarra Freeman, Sofia Bogard, Macy Daniels, Abby Milliken, Eloise Dunfee, Nevaeh Burrel, Oscar Dunfee, Jackson Lam, Audrina Wellington, Erica Holtz, David Jones and Jaylind Motton all had wins in their events. Lastly, all runners are competing in events today; varsity runs at Portage Northern and JV runs at Portage Central. Come support your classmates and friends! We will be competing from 4:00 p.m. until at least 8:00 p.m.
