The Knights’ swept their crosstown rival Kalamazoo Central. Playing in a doubleheader, the Knights took game one with sophomore James Rinehart on the mound, 5-2. Rinehart pitched a complete game with solid pitching to a first big win. The player of the game in game one was Rinehart, and he also got it done at the plate with going 1 for 2 and getting hit by the pitch twice while brining in two RBIs.

In game two senior Austin Thompson was on the mound. Thompson was pitching a shutout and the Knights were leading 6-0, before the game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning due to darkness. The player of the game was Thompson, who only allowed four hits and had seven strikeouts.

The team built momentum going into Loy Norrix’s Super Saturday by beating their rival. This is a huge up for the Knights who haven’t won against the Giants in 17 years. The Knights look to earn their first Super Saturday win in five years. Their first game is at 10:00 a.m. on the Norrix baseball field tomorrow.
