Portugal, here we come! Did you know that the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, is the second oldest European capital city? Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Tagus River, this largest city in Portugal retains a classic 19th century feel. Vendors roam the streets with their wares on their heads and fragatas, the crescent shaped boats of ancient Phoenician origin ply the harbor. Travel with us and walk in the footsteps of ancient pre-Celtic people, Roman legions, Muslim and Crusading Christian invaders, and Napoleon's Army. Peer at the Atlantic from the opposite side for once. Stand at the crossroads of the history and cultures of two continents, Europe and Africa, as you peer at Lisbon's beautiful natural harbor.
