Don't forget to go onto norrix.voting4schools.com and vote for Winterfest court. Voting will end today, Friday, at noon. You can find QR codes for the voting site on TV monitors and fliers hung up around the school. If you have any questions, come to the athletic office to see Coach Rickli.  There will be no dance ticket sales until Monday. Young men! Do you want to develop your leadership skills and refine your self-image, social skills and environmental awareness? Join other young men from Kalamazoo Central and Phoenix High School by joining Kappa League. For more information and an application see Ms. Middleton in the counseling office. Softball conditioning will meet in the weight room on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school to get in shape for the spring season. Participation is optional but encouraged. Join us and improve.  Attention all Sophomores and Juniors. The Third 90 Network Program is now taking applications for the Spring Team. We are looking for 20 students who are motivated, have a positive attitude, make good grades, work well in a team setting, responsible, and not afraid to try new things. The Third 90 program will give you an opportunity to participate in meaningful projects in environmental sustainability. The team works with college faculty and college students. There will be 2 visits to the Kalamazoo Nature Center, 2-3 college campus visits and 2 after school workshops. If you are interested, pick up an application in M14, Mrs. Young's room or K10 Ms. Nelson's room. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, January 31.

Students may be assigned to Saturday School for repeated violations and other infractions. If you have been repeatedly asked to remove your hood, you will be assigned detention or Saturday School depending on the frequency of your violations. If it’s a habit to pull your hoodie up, break the habit - don’t wear a hoodie. Some of the top athletes in the state competed in the elite mile sponsored by Gazelle Sports at Grand Valley State University on Saturday. The 5280 foot race came down to a sprint finish that needed a finish line photo to decide the first place finish. Joe Meyers beat 2nd place by 4 thousandths of a second for the best time in the state at that distance. He is also now ranked 4th in the nation. Please congratulate Joe Meyers on such an amazing accomplishment! Interact club of Loy Norrix meeting will be today, Wednesday at 2:30pm in the cafeteria. New members are welcome. This college offers on campus apartments and a 2 plus 2 program with Ferris State. Loy Norrix will be visiting Southwestern community college on January 16. Fill out your form and bring it back with cash to Ms. Van Lieu in A12 at anytime during the school day. The forms are in folders throughout the school. Attention all members of the Tea Club: The next meeting will be held next Tuesday, January 14. Remember to please bring a friend, snacks or even a tea cup that you would like to donate to us. The class of 2021 executive board members will have a short but fun meeting today after school in C14 to look at designs that need to be done, snacks that need to be eaten and schedules that need to be shared. Attention Students - please check your email every morning! If you receive a lunch or after school detention, it will be communicated by email the day before, to give you time to make arrangements to be there. Eventually, we will be phasing out the daily slips delivered to you during 2nd hour. Emails are sent to students and robocalls are made to parents the night before. Failure to check these communications and failure to show to scheduled detentions will result in an escalation of consequences. It is almost Lacrosse season! To prepare for a successful season there will be conditioning every Monday through Thursday from 4:30 - 6 pm located at Maple Street Middle school. Conditioning starts today, January 6. Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate in conditioning and to join the team! Thank you to everyone who registered to compete for Loy Norrix esports this coming winter season. If you registered to compete in Fortnite, there will be a mandatory meeting after school in Mr. Greeley's room, B13, on Wednesday, January 8, to talk about the upcoming season. See you there! Attention Book Quiz Bowl Members: we will meet from 2:30-4:30 each Tuesday and Thursday in C13. Bring your annotation notebooks. We will be instituting Saturday School.
