Attention Students: Voting for Homecoming Court begins today at 10am and ends Friday at 10am. Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors can vote for 1 of 2 candidates in each of their class virtues. All Students will vote for 1 Queen and 1 King Candidate. If you want to see the candidates before you vote, you can see them at the Pep Assembly today. Voting is at Norrix.voting4schools.com You will also find QR Codes around the building by lunch time today. The QR Code will take you directly to the site. It’s so easy! Take the time to vote! If you have any questions or difficulty please come by the Athletic Office. SSR is 2nd hour today. Attention choir students going on the Fall Choral Festival rehearsal field trip today, please remember to meet in the choir room at the start of second hour.  Interested in playing softball? This Saturday at Sangren Hall on WMU's campus from 8-5, The Great Lakes Peacejam is hosting the 2019 Climate Crisis Slam and Peacejam Youth Leadership Summit Conference.  This is open to Peacejammers and non-Peacejammers that are concerned about our Climate Crisis! Take a packet from Mrs. May's door and if you decide to come bring it with you to Sangren on Saturday Morning. Today we will be having our first pep rally of the school year!  We want to make sure it's a great experience for everyone.  Teachers, you were sent a PowerPoint presentation from Ms. Young that you've been asked to show the first 10 minutes of 4th hour.  Please review the PowerPoint presentation with your students.  The presentation identifies the Loy Norrix expectations for behavior and fun at a pep rally.   Additionally, an announcement will be made for Freshman teachers to escort their students to the gymnasium approximately the last 15 minutes of 4th hour. Freshman teachers, please make sure to ESCORT your students.  Teachers who have Freshmen with upper class students will need to release ONLY Freshman students at that time.  The remainder of classes will be released to the pep rally via the PA.  Teachers please escort your classes to the pep rally when called.

We are working hand in hand with Peace Jam. There will be a Pizza Party today October 23rd at 2:30pm in the Cafeteria. This Pizza party is opened to everyone who is interested in joining INTERACT CLUB.  Both INTERACT CLUB and PEACE JAM, will be hosting a BUNDLE UP KALAMAZOO drive. Students who are interested in this BUNDLE UP drive should also come to the Pizza Party. This week is Spirit Week! Today is Pajama Day, Tuesday is Twin Day, Wednesday is Almost Throwback Thursday, and Thursday is Spirit Day. There is no school this Friday. The cross country teams fought hard in the SMAC Conference Meet this past Saturday at Lakeview's Riverside Elementary Course. Both teams were projected to finish in the lower half of the conference and did better than expected with the girls finishing 5th and the boys 4th in their respective races. Earning all conference honors were Joy Hart with a 9th place finish and Ella Schnell with 3rd. Joe Meyers also was all conference with his runner-up finish. Lilly Daniels and Bella Ford ran season bests while Joy Hart, Georgia Hill, Kinsey Skjold, Myles Baker, Joss Brent, Simon Ford, Gryffin Hurley, Grant Kahler, Kaleb Miller and Gavin Roznac all had lifetime bests. They compete again 5 miles away at Portage West Middle School next Saturday for the Regional meet and a chance to go to the state finals. Go Knights! Look around the grounds of Norrix and you will see the efforts of 14 Peacejammers, 1 Current Events students and 2 adults that spent collectively 34 hours cleaning the grounds of Loy Norrix so we can have pride in our building and the grounds.  Please clean up after yourself so it can stay clean and tidy. After Thursday's matches, Loy Norrix Esports continued their dominant run through their competitors. Both teams swept to victory, not losing a single game all week. For the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team, they won both matches 3 to 0 over University of Detroit Jesuit High School. The wins give them a solid hold on 2nd place in their tough division. With a rematch against division leader Midland coming on October 24th, the Knights' return to form comes at the perfect time. The Loy Norrix Cavalry Overwatch team was also action three times this week, recording dominant wins in two matches against Midland High School and accompanied by a similarly dominant win against Penn Manor High School in Millersville, PA. The Overwatch team hasn't surrendered a single game yet this season, winning all matches by a score of two games to none. Tomorrow, October 16th, is a half day. After two wins on Thursday, October 10th, your Loy Norrix Esports teams are excelling in statewide competition. The Overwatch team has taken a strong hold of their division after a dominating performance last night against Kensington Woods and remain undefeated, sweeping all opponents two games to none. Congratulations this week to Jackson Kiino-Terburg, Cameron Green, Sophie Decker, Yancy Quinn-Cabrera, Evan Eldred, Elliot Russell, and Foster Neve-Jones. The Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team had their first loss on Tuesday, a tight 2 games to 1 match against Midland High school. Adam Ismaili-Alaoui won another match in dominating fashion, while Gabe Vroman and Kang Wee both played intense matches that went down to the wire. Both teams are in action again on Tuesday, with the Overwatch team playing against Midland high school and the Smash Brothers team playing against University of Detroit high school. Key Club is an international club with clubs in more than 38 countries. Our focus areas include leadership, service, and character. Join Key Club!! UKNIGHT will meet today, Tuesday, October 15th in D-11 at 2:30.  This is a great club for meeting new people, playing games, and having crazy fun! Please join us for restorative yoga today from 2:45-4:00 in Room J-11. This will be a great opportunity to rest, relax, and stretch. We have the mats, so just wear comfortable clothes. Attention Students and teachers: We have a new “No Hall Pass List” with a long list of students.  If your name is on the list, you are not permitted to leave your classrooms without an escort.  Many of you ended up on the list due to excessive tardiness and absences.  The goal is for everyone to maximize instructional time and students can’t do that if they’re not in class.  Students can appeal at the end of the trimester.  Improved attendance and reduced tardies are two of the major factors that will be considered.  The Loy Norrix Counselors will be hosting a Financial Aid Night on Wednesday, October 16th during conferences.Representatives will be here to assist you and your parents with the FAFSA. The Knights Swimming & Diving results are in: We competed against Mattawan last night.  We won 123-65.  Thank you to the staff and students that came out and cheered for us last night. Next home meet will be on Tuesday.  We will be celebrating our seniors. Go Knights!! Last night it was a wonderful evening filled with Norrix students cheering on the Norrix Men's soccer team win of 4-3 win over Kalamazoo Central.  What a great team effort and what a great team effort! Seniors it is Michigan College Month!  Today, October 11th - Western Michigan University will be in the Auditorium @ 1pm Attention students! Would you like to get help to prepare for the SAT's?  There is a great opportunity to get yourself ready! Attend the High School SAT Boot Camp on Sunday October 13 from 2-6pm at the KPS professional Building. See Ms Naz or Mr Baker in the CIS office for details. Have you ever wondered what an AP class is like and if it is something you should sign up to take?  Of course you have!  New this year you will have the opportunity to take a peek into what happens in an AP class during an APeek day.  An APeek day will allow you to sit in for a brief time on an AP class of interest to you.  Students may come to the counseling office to sign up to participate in one of our APeek days throughout the year.  Don't be scared just come take a peek into the world of AP.  Attention KAMSC & ATYP students.
