The cross country teams raced in the last Jamboree of the season with great results. As a team the girls finished 4pts behind 3rd and boys only finished 2pts back from 1st. 21 out of 24 runners finished better than their ranking. Olivia Polderman ran her lifetime best in spite of the hot and humid conditions. Joe Meyers and Ella Schnell finished first in their respective races taking the overall divisional titles. The teams race again on Saturday at the Portage Invitational at Portage West Middle School. Anyone interested in running in the open race should show up by 8am. Chess Club meets today from 2:20-3:30 in Computer Lab D-10. Anyone may attend, and anybody who beats Mr. Bellware wins a customized chess board. Have you ever wondered what an AP class is like and if it is something you should sign up to take? Of course you have! New this year you will have the opportunity to take a peek into what happens in an AP class during an APeek day. An APeek day will allow you to sit in for a brief time on an AP class of interest to you. Students may come to the counseling office to sign up to participate in one of our APeek days throughout the year. Don't be scared just come take a peek into the world of AP. Travel Club will have a parent/student informational meeting today, October 2nd for anyone interested in going to Paris or Scandinavia. Your Loy Norrix Marching Knights traveled to Otsego High School this past Saturday to participate in their first Marching Band Competition of the season. Not only did they have a terrific performance, but they broke the 80 point barrier, out of 100! Their final score of 81.8 is far higher than anyone anticipated, and right on the heels of programs that have decades of competitive experience. This is the first competition the band has participated in since at least 2003. We're so proud of our Loy Norrix Marching Knights! The Men’s Tennis Team competed in the SMAC Championship on Saturday. Congratulations to Connor Rafferty on winning 2 matches and Dominick Frost on also getting a victory! Some of the toughest teams in the state were at the Jackson Cross Country Invitational Friday and Saturday. The girls finished 16th and the boys finished 19th. Joe Meyers finished 5th overall with a personal best of 15:40 and Ella Schnell finished 8th with a personal best of 19:00. Half of our runners ran season or personal best times in spite of the hot and humid weather. Cristian Huerta and Grant Kahler dropped almost a half of a minute off their bests. Georgia Hill dropped almost a minute off her season best. Sam Allen went under 19 minutes and Nolan Tribu went under 18 minutes. Please congratulate all our runners on their hard efforts. There is no AAC today due to a staff meeting. AAC will be available Tuesday and Thursday only this week. There will be Basketball Weight Training from 2:30-4 and Open Gym 7-8:30 today September 23, 2019. All Athletes interested in Trying out for Basketball in the winter, and are not involved in a fall sport. Are strongly encouraged to participate in all preseason basketball activities. SSR is 1st hour today Today, September 19th there will be an event in the Auditorium on Global Climate change from 2:30-4:30. Come learn about Global Climate Change and what we each can do to help slow the process. Also, On Friday, Sept 20th in the Arcadia Commons the city of Kalamazoo is hosting an event about Global Climate Change. You can catch the 2:40 city bus and it will take you downtown. There will be a green school meeting today after school in B14. We will be picking up bottles and working in the A-wing courtyard. Come be a part of the change! All are welcome!
