“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is a breath of fresh air, and even with its flaws is the best Marvel movie of 2022 so far

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is very different from anything Disney has tried in the 28 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and that’s exactly why reviews are very mixed thus far. Some people love change and some just want to go into the theater opening night and see a standard, action-packed MCU movie.

Even if you’re not a fan of horror or thriller movies, the darkness and goriness of this film is awesome. The death scenes are very unique and bloody throughout which really pushes the PG-13 rating.

For example, Scarlet Witch’s blood-drenched body when fighting the illuminati is creepy and the way Wanda kills each person in her path in a crazy and different way is very cool.

The incredible special effects in this movie make everything better. Every single fight scene is flawless and the cinematography was amazing throughout.

The biggest problem of the film is the actor Xochitl Gomez, who plays “America Chavez.” Not only is she an awful actor, but she sounds like she belongs on a Disney Channel show the whole movie, and it’s impossible to ignore. Everything Gomez says seems like she’s in a rush to finish her sentence and is reading her lines off a script in front of her, which makes every scene she’s in extremely cringeworthy.

On the other hand, Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect as Doctor Strange and has been amazing in every Marvel movie he has appeared in.

Another flaw in this film is the rushed plot. The build-up throughout the movie is lacking with how much information there is to take in. One reason it feels so rushed is because of the three-hour-plus length of other MCU movies. Conversely, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” at two hours and six minutes leaves no room for comprehension and leads to extremely rushed transitions throughout. It feels like Sam Raimi, the director of the movie, just wanted to get the movie over and done with.

There is one thing to really appreciate about this movie. While making a lot of fans mad, it also gave a lot of people almost exactly what they wanted in something different, fresh, and something that fulfilled the hype of the film, which is very rare with new movies in this age.

“Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness” is the best movie of 2022 this far and is 100% worth seeing in theaters before it releases on Disney+ on July 8th, 2022.
