On Saturday Dec. 13 from 8-11 p.m., the Winter Formal Dance is set to take place in the Loy Norrix cafeteria.
Junior class president Brielle Dalke, Vice President Dennise Hernandez along with Issabella Pringle and other juniors from the board have been planning the formal for a few weeks with help from their advisor, Niambi McMillon.
There’s lots of student involvement in planning, communicating and sorting out details for the dance while the advisor handles things like ordering supplies and coordinating staffing.
“I’m the junior class president so I’ve kind of taken the role of guiding my executive board through planning the process of Winter Formal, delegating tasks and having everyone come together to agree on decorations, playlists, djs and all the little details and designs,” said Dalke
The board has gotten feedback from upper and underclassmen to see what they would like to see at the dance.
“Mostly our junior executive board [has been involved in planning], but I’ve also asked around, asked my friends and asked younger grade levels,” said Dalke. “I’ve asked seniors what they would like to see at this Winter Formal or what they would like to change from past Winter Formals and what we could do to make sure everyone has a great experience.”
The Winter Formal’s theme is “Knight in the City”. There is no official dress code, however attendees are encouraged to dress up to fit the theme.
Tickets to the dance are available to buy during all three lunches for $20 and at the door for $25. With a purchase of your ticket to the dance, you’ll get entered into a raffle to win a free gift card. All the money earned from the dance will go into planning for the prom, which will also be planned by the 2026 executive board.
