Loy Norrix’s 2026 production of “Clue” steps into the spotlight Thursday, February 19, and will run until Sunday, February 22.
“Clue” takes place in a mansion where six iconic characters are invited to a dinner by the homeowner, Mr. Boddy, unaware that the evening will take a turn for the worse. The guests have all been blackmailed by Mr. Boddy. He gives each guest a weapon and an ultimatum: either be exposed or kill the butler. What follows is shocking discoveries and twists as the play unravels
Loy Norrix’s production of this riveting story consists of 40 students, including actors, crew, light technicians, stage managers, customers and more.
The cast has been prepping since early January. In past years, cast and crew have been given six weeks to prepare for plays before opening night. However, due to all the snow days this winter, they had to cancel some rehearsals.
“Once we cast the show, we have six weeks of rehearsals… although we lost five rehearsals to snow days, so we only really had five weeks,” said producer and drama teacher Dan Lafferty.
Even after losing a week of rehearsals, the cast still made tremendous progress throughout the rehearsal process, keeping them on track to open the show on time.
“We were all worried after the snow days because we got a week off rehearsal and couldn’t do anything, which would have affected us if we were less capable,” said Owen Ross, who plays Professor Plum.
While Clue is a murder mystery, the comedic aspects of the show are what make it the iconic production that many know and love. To keep this charm, the actors focus heavily on their comedic delivery.
“I think a lot of the people involved have good comedic timing, which is really important for Clue,” said student assistant director Felix Bahrou. “Everyone in the cast has been very receptive to taking notes, so there has been a lot of improvement and growth.”
Even with a smaller budget and fewer rehearsal days, the cast and crew of Clue have put their all into this production. They hope to put on a memorable show this weekend that brings together the mystery, charm and comedy of Clue.
