Attention students: the CIS Snacks are only available before and after school.  No snacks will be handed out during passing time or lunch. Student athletes look for weekly emails from Mrs. Rocco regarding volunteer work.  You can log your volunteer hours using the QR code posted outside of the athletic office. Loy Norrix Key Club has now begun their annual membership drive. If you are interested in joining Key Club, please pick up the membership profile outside of Ms. Nelson's room, D13. Key Club is an international club in over 35 countries around the world. Its mission is to serve, build character and develop leadership. Being an active member looks great on resumes and college applications. Please see Ms. Nelson or a current Key Club member if you have any questions. The first Key Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 19th at 2:30 in Ms. Nelson's room D13. All are welcome! The Green School club will meet on Thursday in room B14. If you missed the meeting last week, no problem! You are still welcome. If you have questions, you can stop by B14 and talk to Mr. David. Hope to see you there! This week we are highlighting guidelines for using the library. #3:  Please enjoy any food in the cafeteria before coming to the library!  Food attracts bugs, and if we let the bugs get near the books, they will gain all the knowledge and take over the world.  As you can tell from this joke, the librarian has enough cheese in the library already. Come to Mr. Shack’s room, C13, on Friday September 15th for the first Young Democrats club meeting of the year! We will discuss future meetings, activities and plan for the year. Come for political discussion and action with the Young Democrats on Friday! AAC will be open today for tutoring from 2:30 to 3:30 in the following rooms: social studies in C19, math in B13, English in B11, science in B14, ESL support in K1, and Spanish in K12. Study hall will not be open today. Are you interested in running for office someday or working in politics? Our Youth in Government Team is a fun and exciting way to learn about how to be an elected official and get laws passed. This year, our Youth in Government team has a lot planned and is ready to compete against hundreds of other Michigan students in the actual chambers of the Michigan Capitol. Come find out more at our second Youth in Government meeting this year, after school on Monday the 18th in D18, Ms. Johnson's room, at 2:20!

If you can read music, and are interested in learning how to improvise and perform Jazz, Rock, or Latin music,  join our band! We rehearse in the Band room (J10) every Tuesday right after school. If interested, please contact Mr. Shebukhov or stop by the band room on Tuesday after school. Then come to our FREE workshop next Tuesday the 19th from 2:30 to 5:30 in the Choir room J12. The directors will teach you songs and a dance combination to help you prepare for your audition. Our golf team was 2nd place out of 12 Teams! Two players received medals for being in the Top 10! Isaac Scavarda and Xander Gorham! Attention Seniors: Grad Bash ticket sales end soon! Buy your ticket online, at the office, in the cafeteria on Wednesday or at the awards ceremony on Friday. Saturday Loy Norrix Esports finished our MiHSEF season this past Saturday at UM Flint. After an early morning and technical difficulties beyond anyone's control, our Smite team placed 3rd and our Overwatch team was defeated by the eventual winner of the tournament, Detroit Catholic Central. Congratulations players, we did great Yearbooks are here and will be given out tomorrow at 2:00! You must buy a yearbook in advance to attend the Yearbook Signing Party tomorrow. Issac was tied for 5th best score and received a medal for his low round. The rest of the Team played strong too with the following scores for the tournament: Xandor Gorham shot a nice round of 83. Sam Gagie shot a very solid round of 86. Aaron Teal shot a nice round of 87. Connor Rafferty shot a solid 88 for the tournament! Nice Job Loy Norrix Knights Varsity Golf Team. The conference championship was held in track and field at Portage Central on Saturday. Both teams performed well. While none of our sprinters or throwers placed, the mid-distance, distance, and jumpers had a great showing and all relays scored. Ana was 3rd in the 800 and 1600, Sofia and Abby scored in those events as well. Trevor was 2nd in both hurdle events while Naomi and Neveah scored in one of those each as well. Jackson was 3rd in the 1600 and Sam was 2nd in the 800. James was first in high jump and Thomas was 2nd in pole vault. Trevor also scored in long jump, Helen in pole vault, and Nevaeh in high jump. The highlight of the meet was the 4x800 relay team of Oskar, Jackson, Gryffin, and Sam setting the school and conference meet records in a time under 8 minutes! Congratulate everyone and encourage them this week as they prepare for the regional meet on Friday.

The Kalamazoo Promise will be hosting a Post-Secondary Signing Day celebration tomorrow, May 12th from 10am-1pm. Departure will be immediately after 1st hour. This will be a celebratory event and a resource fair. All Seniors are welcomed, not just promise eligible students. Look out for an email from your promise coach with more details or stop by their office if you have questions. This week there will be a school lunch survey available to take in the cafeteria by scanning the QR code on the flyers provided. By submitting a survey you are automatically entered to win a prize. Prizes include wireless earbuds, a mini movie projector, a waterproof action camera, and more! Your feedback is important to KPS Food Service. The Women’s Soccer team has had 2 strong performances this week. They defeated Portage Northern 3-0 on Monday and then tied the conference leading Mattawan team 0-0 last night. It was definitely a tense game against Mattawan with some near misses in the last minutes of the contest. To be the best, you need to play the best. The team will host #12 ranked Plainwell on Friday.
