Music is Love, Music is Life. Sophomores Motivating Passion for Music

Every day you hear music in the distance whether it be in the hallways from other classmates. Music plays from the intercom by Link Crew Members trying to create a more positive environment, or passing by the Choir room on your way out of class. Music is all around us!
Some music you may like and some you may not like. To some people, music is their life and for others it’s the disease of the world, but for sophomore Madeline Skiles that’s not the case. Skiles likes to Cheer, pretend she is Nicki Minaj on Snapchat, and listen to music to get motivated.
“I enjoy listening to Ed Sheeran, Nicki Minaj, and Five Seconds of Summer,” Skiles said. Skiles favorite songs are “Don’t” by Ed Sheeran, “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj, and “Beside You” by Five Seconds of Summer.
Recently there has been some controversy about the ‘Anaconda’ song/video. Some people find the song disturbing because of the message that is portrayed throughout the whole song and video, and others say that people are blowing it out of proportion saying that ‘it’s just about an Anaconda as in like an Animal,’ but for Skiles she could care less what people think because she will still likes Nicki Minaj either way.
“[I think the video] it’s crazy, and a little weird,” said Skiles. “[But] they [referring to Ed Sheeran, Nicki Minaj and Five Seconds of Summer] all have good music, and Nicki Minaj she just raps good, ‘Five SOS’ and Ed Sheeran have great voices and great meaningful lyrics.”
Skiles has attended Five Seconds of Summer concerts twice when they toured with One Direction, and is planning to seem them again soon going on a solo tour this time in the Summer, but she has never attended a Nicki Minaj or Ed Sheeran concert before in her life.
“I love them and a Nicki Minaj concert would be a real party time,” said Skiles.
